Technical 1953 mercury steering box

Looking for options/suggestions for a replacement steering box or rebuild kit.
I've found kits for Ford cars. Will these work on a mercury? I'm wanting to stay with manual steering. My steering box has some sweet grinding noises & areas where is gets stuck. It's on jacks now getting a front suspension rebuild. I've got everything disconnected as far as steering goes (except box & column still in car) and just turning it like that you can really feel some **** grinding around in there.
I've never rebuilt one of these boxes, is it pretty straight forward or am I better off finding a replacement? Thanks in advance

Contact C&G Ford Parts in Escondido CA. They should be able to set you up. I believe Ford and Merc are the same.

Google shoebox Central. They might have that steering box on the shelf.

 

I have one. Not going to work for my g***er 4dr. PM me if you like. Needs bearings. Worked good before I took it apart. Pics if you like. Also needs to be cleaned up, bit greasy!!
P.S. added a link to the bearings. Needs 2 of them. Might rebuild and put in the cl***ifieds.
