Actually, it's not that difficult to mount '51 hinges into a '49... It just takes some patience and careful measuring.. here is how it's done:

Interesting thread and I'm glad it worked for you. I think it's a worthwhile task, as the exposed hinges clash with the overall design of the car in my opinion,

In the end though, especially after reviewing your thread, I stick with my original statement.
