Been awhile since i’ve posted anything on here. Started a new project, so what the hell. Filling trim holes right now. Gonna lower it, paint it blue, white roof with flake, and lace panels on the C pillars. Whatcha think? The goal is to drive it to the Bayou Roundup. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I made a mild custom out of one of those neat little Fairlanes when it was brand new. Mine was a AMT kit though
The little Fairlanes, a most unusual car. Factory stance or a little deck low, they look long and big like a Galaxie. They have that early 60s look. Tail high..... the length disappears. They look short like a pony car. With all the trim they look early 60 s. With the chrome trim removed they look....Euro??Sportscar?? A look that's later or dare I say timeless? This can be good or bad. I know of no other car that is so easy to loose it's identity with such minuscule changes. It's just as sensitive with wheel and tire changes. Low I don't have any idea how much lower you can go. Those things were pretty damn low from the factory. No joke.....they get most of their height from the air in the tires!
Here's a nice blue one (from the web). Bellflower pipes seem a natural. What are your plans for tail lights? (Lots of options!)
That blue ones what im shooting for. Just different colors. Already got the bellflowers sitting on one of my tables. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Nice Job! Keep us updated on the progress. I did a '62 a few years ago, and recently spoke with the Buyer, who is still enjoying it. BTW, I've got brand new Seat Back Foam for Bucket Seats, and some suspension and trim parts, if needed.
This shot’s gonna make me remove the trim on the back too. Damn thats clean. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
13 inch supremes. Always loved the looks of those with thin white walls but never had the right car for em. I believe this is it. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Little bit of progress. Been super busy lately but have managed to lower it and fill all of the trim holes welded and wiped. Seriously can’t wait for color. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
This one here has been passed around my circle like a joint at a frat party. My pal Billy Sincox (Slowandlow63) owned it and daily drove it for years. He sold it to me in 2010. I drove it for a couple years, and sold it to my father in law who completely rebuilt it. With no intervention from me whatsoever, coincidently sold it to my college roommate, who kept it until a few weeks ago. He sold it to my father in law's coworker who happens to live in the same neighborhood. Crazy shit. Car is currently at my in law's house getting a full front end rebuild and disc brake conversion. Originally a 221/FOM car, it now has a later 302 roller motor and C4. Obviously all the trim shaved and door handles, and molded 60 Dodge tail lights, bellflowers and Astros. Roof has since been painted gold. Neat car
Lots of firsts. First all over color change, first time shooting flake, first time with candy, and first time doing a lace panel. Pretty well pleased. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Paint looks good. Always wanted one of these Knew a kid back in the 60's....his "grandpa" and he put in a straight axle.....289 HiPo with cross-ram dual 4 barrels. Big ass lumpy cam with a 4 speed. I'm talking 16-17 year old kid! My mouth usta drool when I saw it.
My dads got a 60 Falcon im trying to talk him in to a straight axle. Ive got a 289 i told him id throw in if he’d just put a straight axle under it. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Thats my '63 ^^^ Looks like your on your way! I love the '63...its so different which is what makes it cool. Can't wait to see your progress!
I really like these fairlanes. Yours is looking killer! I have a 65 I’m going to get back on shortly. What did you do on the suspension lowering? I’m thinking bags, but I don’t know if I want to just static drop it. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Most awesome that you stood up and painted your own car, in a manner and style you weren't familiar with. I hope it will be the first of many more.
Just springs and blocks for now, prolly gonna bag the rear soon and save up for some shockwaves for the front. Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
If I had one I'd have to do the f/x style to it. I always thought they looked cool with the teardrop hood scoops
