has anyone put ac where there gas tank was on a model a? If so what unit did you use and would you buy again.THanks
I installed a Ken Davis AC conversion in a model A. What I liked was condenser is under the back which keeps hot condenser air away from radiator. Engine was modified banger. Customer loves it.
Btt But I hope others will chime in.The Ken Davis system looks ok but the a I bought had a rotted out tank so i think that is a good place for one.
It seems the Davis system is for stock style Model A's. Is your vehicle running a stock banger engine? You can always search places like eBay and build your own system up from parts to suit your needs. I've done that with my 1959 F100 and T pickup hot rod. It does help if you have a friendly a/c shop nearby.
No motor I probably will put a 302 in it have one just sitting on a stand. The vintage air mini sounds like the deal
Depending on how much room you have, you might consider an electric compressor. Especially if you want to maintain that stock looking 4 cylinder A engine or a flathead. https://www.seanhylandmotorsport.co...r-how-can-you-decide-if-one-is-right-for-you/
I have installed numerous under dash units in Model A's. The mini unit offered by Vintage Air will take the least amount of work. I have also installed the Classic Auto Air "Cooler II" which is larger, but also cooled much better. You best be good at fitting 10 lbs of parts into a 5 lb. area, but it's worth it. Also, we have done the Under-dash styles, and they perform the best in my opinion. It's up to you.
Yeah a guy at the local cruise in has an under dash one in his he likes it too. I would kind of like to hide it, you know clean dash.
With creativity, you can take the 'underdash' designs and put them behind a custom dash and have them blow thru. Those units cost allot less and cool better, I just got a unit with both Heat and Air off Ebay.
I used a vintageair mini in my 30 pickup. Have a walker rad with condenser. Works great even in those 117 degree days we have here in Mesa Az. Mounted the compressor down low on my 302.
