That feature used a switch that was built into the factory carburetor. Mine's been replaced with an Edelbrock and now has a push****on starter.

Got the dreaded treadle vac out. Now I need to get the pedal box I found from a '60 installed and upgrade to a modern booster and dual MC.

Haven't posted in awhile. That old money and time thing. I've got money right now, but no time as I'm working all of the time to get it. But have made some time to press on with the brake upgrade.

Got a pedal from a '60 Buick donor. The mounting area at the firewall is right, but it had to be modified to attach under the '59 dash.

This image shows how it will attach. Picture is taken thru the windshield.

I will have to move the battery closer to the core support to fit the booster and M/C. The donor battery tray I think was from a C10.

After all of this the brakes were bled, fluids topped and checked (the Dynaflow needed 7 quarts), battery in and it started right up. IMG_3741.JPG IMG_3746.JPG

My 64 Biscayne was stored for over 45 years. It was bought in an estate sale after its owners p***ed away. BTW thats the original paint, chrome, stainless and everything but the wheels and tires. IMG_0812.JPG IMG_0809.JPG

I'm not really sure but think the car was only driven a couple of years before it was put in storage. The mileage on it when I got it in 2015 was in the twenties.

Dad bought a saddle tan one with the same interior (283/glide). I don’t remember his looking that good brand new!

They didn't look that good new because it wasn't lowered and was without decent wheels and tires. Thats all it takes to make most cars look good.

Maybe that's it. A few years later (1969), I bought a 64 Impala Hdtp. As money allowed, dual Thrush mufflers, Chrome reverse rallyes and wider tires. Yeah, I was stylin!
