It's based on tube axles, not I-beams.

Dominator builds the front ends. Here's a car they are building with one.

So with the tubes you use 4 bar and hairpins with the beams? I'd say they are both the same idea as the twin I beam on my trusty 74 F-100. To tube or not to tube is the question!

Dave Imagine If I told people "twin tube beam" would that make sence to you?

It almost has to be better than the Fatman setup because the axles are SOOO short on that one. I'd imagine it probably works OK with the limited wheel travel on a rod.

    Whats it supposed to dominate????

  7. It's the old Granville Grenfell system re-visited. Worked well enough on all his race cars...

    I like it.
Looks like a straight axle...has long arms for less camber change and tuck...can use wishbones OR 4 bars.
You get the look and lose some of the less desirable solid axle issues caused or enhanced by having the wheels directly linked. Cool!

Still...why buy it when you could home modify a real Twin-I-beam Ford system to get the same benefits? If the effort were taken an early TIB could be made to look real nice and most wouldn't even realize it was independent!
Don't really understand why all these setups seem to be hellbent on pretending they aren't independent! They have a simple look beyond the frame...unlike a MII, so why bother to pretend at all?
    Don't see the problem...

BUT $3500.00 bucks will buy this alone?

MUST be da BLING factor...and that part isn't for me! LoL

Ford used that setup about 30 years to long in there pickups, now somebody has to drag that junk back up again. Don't get me wrong I like fords, but I do not like the twin I beams. I prefer a straight axle over the twin beams.

What did you find bad about them Willys?
Did you have the kingpin version?
I've had a couple of early ones and several family members have had them and found them reliable and durable.
NOT a fan of the 4x4 version...way too complex, but the stock two wheel drives served us well as daily drivers!

  13. And SO attractive too.....

Drove many hundred of thousands of miles in Ford twin I beam trucks, they were always darting side ot side down the road due to the constantly changing roll center.
Driv a Surburban now what a improvement in drivaability.
As for my 54 straight axle on mono leaf springs.

the key element you guys are missing on this suspension is how the rack and pinion is utilized.

    Yeah, rack and pinion

I have some better pictures from the catalog I will try and scan and post later. I still don't like the idea of split beams but the desire of a lot of hot rodders to attach rack and pinion steering systems to beam axles is what spurred this contraption. Not the desire for IFS...

If you want to run a rack and pinion with a straight axle, use the Uni-steer. Drives awesome.

I am going to do my 37 as a stock car clone and use original ford beams and torsion bars. Though I dreamed it up first. ****. Take some of the "cutting edge" feel out of it.
