Danny, I'd start now getting a hotel/motel room with the 50th next year. If it were me I'd try the La Quinta on Preston highway.

The less time exposed to the sun the longer the quality of the vehicle. Some of us think of that as taking care of and preserving our hard labor put into our cars and enjoying them longer before having to redo them. Not everyone who protects his car is vain. And not everyone thinks cars are only to be driven. Some enjoy admiring a fresh build and flawless work just to look at as much as driving. Yes this too is a hobby.I have both and I guess you have to be one of those guys to understand. Just because you feel all cars are meant only to be driven does not mean everyone does. The OEM car manufacturers build concept cars just to be looked at and trailer them to all showings. They know that a production street driven version will never be built. This world is full of people who feel different about everything and just because they do doesn't make what they do lame. To me lame is someone who thinks its my way or the highway. Just remember that there will always be people that will p*** your car by and head to the car thats under the canopy just as some will p*** the canopy and head toward your car. I will never understand why some think there is only one way of doing things. Please let the other guy enjoy his car in his own way just like you enjoy yours in your own way.A car show is for many owners not one. Your garage is your personal car show and you can put it on any way you see fit.

The main problem with the huge car tents is simply the increased number, imo. Last year NSRA restricted the number and location near the main building, but this year they spilled out into much of the West paved area. Every tent takes more parking spaces than it provides, resulting in some very crowded conditions. I'm not knocking those that rent them, but feel the tent rental idea has just grown too large. My club members will be lucky to have the space next year we have enjoyed for several years, because of the intrusion of monster tents. :(
Ridiculous scooter rental is another issue that has gotten way of control, but common at non-NSRA events as well.

One of those scooters smacked into a display car inside the building just before the owner arrived at the booth to view his newly-completed car.

Desoto, If you have owned that car pictured on your page since the early 60's, then I'm thinking it was one of the 1st hot rods I saw at my 1st ever car show at the old Armory in Louisville, Ky. There may have been 20 cars there, but your paint job stood out to me and was burned forever in my teenage mind.

The first time the '34 was in Louisville was for the first of the NSRA events there. 1988, I think. Been to every Nats in Louisville.

It's been to every Nationals since St Paul in 74 but the car is based in M***achusetts.

The only indoor car shows it was entered in were in Springfield, MA and Hartford, CT back in the early seventies.

It's been in the current paint theme since '72. Prior to that it was black ('64-'71) and, for about a year, red oxide getting ready for the current Kandy Tangerine done in October '72.
