Hey guys, I need some help. I've been having tuning issues on my 51 and recently discovered that when I pull the back 4 plugs while running nothing happens. I am running 6 volt + ground system with mallory distributer and Petronics. On top I am running dual 97s on an electric fuel pump. Car has always run rich. Timing has been set multiple times. I could use some advice. Thanks in advance
This is a possibility if he is running a "Super" manifold (carbs widely spaced and positioned over the two groups of intake ports). Not so much with a "Regular" manifold. I guess the first thing we should ask is "What kind of manifold is it?" If it is a "Super", I'd switch the carbs around.
Carbs are really close together. Checked spark and widened gap on plugs. Compression is good. Very possible that carbs are the issue. I added adjustable jets to try and get these things synced. Ended up using vacuumed gauge and then tuning to sound from there. It’s running the best it can based on that stuff but I keep fowling plugs on 4 rear cylinders.
