Technical Early 60' s 283 timing cover witg two timing tabs.

Some early 283’s only used the crank hub pictured, and then there was the small harmonic dampener that was also used. With the dampener you would need to trim off the lower tab.

 

So it came like that from the factory?

Yes, I believe it could be used with the early style plain hub, or the 283 sized dampener.
