    Hi Guys!

Just signed up, because I'm stumped!

We have a British Bren Carrier Tracked vehicle we are restoring. It has a 46' Ford 239 in it. Motor has been completely rebuilt. New 4 grove .030 over pistons and rings (motor had been previously rebuilt) - honed the bores, new rods and mains, new valves & springs, valve seats, crank ground, etc. Motor has original stock cam, valves lapped (3/32 seat surface). Timed at 3 deg BTDC, motor has a stock Zenith carb (original to vehicle) Motor once ***embled and run has no friggin' power. Vehicle will not get past 2nd gear, and because it's tracked, it's a ***** to turn (keeps stalling under any load)

    We did a compression check, Cylindes are 1=90 2=80 3=80 4=80 5=90 6=85 7=90 8=90

Think the rings haven't seated? Motor has about 2-3 hrs run time on it.

Any options or something I'm missing? - Looks to be some knoweldegeable guys here!

    Thanks!

    Chris

Yeah, I'd guess the rings haven't seated. Cast iron rings, or?
Gotta get it really warmed up ......accelerate then decelerate under load if you can. Repeat.

    Retorque your heads.

Had a fresh built 327 with a somewhat similar issue.. ran decent under normal conditions then no power when needed.. torqued the intake and ran as it should..

****ogous in the sense that you should try re-torquing the heads..

    Guys,
We pulled the motor, tore it down and had it bored .06 over. (Just honed the .030's last time) New pistons & rings. Rebuilt and re- installed. SAME PROBLEM. No fracking power! Runs good at idle, stomp the gas and it roars, no hesitation. Get in out in the yard in gear and it's friggin gutless.

Heads have been retorqued as has intake. I'm thinking either distributor or carb at this point. I've tried a 94 Carb on it with same results.

    HELP!

Is everything 100% between the flywheel and the ground?
