IF I had too much money I would own that box...I'd even use the brushes once in awhile on special stuff!

There has always been a seperation of cl***...or rich people poor people...always will be...I guess if ya don't like it you could go to a country that doesn't have rich and poor people...but I doubt that exists...unless maybe just everyone is poor and starving!

  4. Anyone have info on the Museum and who the owners are? Nothing on Google yet.

Sounds like the self portrait was the bargain of the auction.
I would hang that up in my house in a heartbeat.
Do you realize it says "**** YOU" in the background?

I still think it's ****ed up that folks spend so much money on **** when we have kids that go hungry, are homeless, etc. I don't care if they give 10% of a billilon dollars to "charities", they just don't need $900,000,000 to have a happy & full life. I'm NOT talking college educations, I'm talking about CHILDREN that are STARVING in this country - not to mention worldwide.
Then there's the case of my website Screwed By insurance (small case in point). I had it up for 4 years paying for it out of my own pocket, helping others as much as I could, INCLUDING trying to help the poor FAMILIES (including young children!) that the insurance CARTEL has delayed their claim on their burned home only to FORCE them to live on the street - after selling everything they had left INCLUDING THEIR CAR to survive. Only after I ran out of money (& I DO mean completely broke) & had to let the site go down did I get much of anyone wanting to help out (& then only a few) - INCLUDING the AGENTS that had been making money off of the website!!!
I'm not saying they should give it ALL away. I just don't see anyone with any money REALLY trying to help the children!!!

Ask yourself why there are kids starving in the richest country in the world when you have a welfare system......it's just like here, the parents choose to spend the money they get to feed their kids on other things, like cigarettes, booze and drugs. All the guys on here work for what they have and choose to look after their families first, then spend money on cars etc. If I had the money I would have been the owner of the box along with a **** load more of Dutch's stuff.
If you want to get all concinensious ask your self why Nike pay some 12 year old 50c an hour to make $100 shoes....that are worn by the parents of the starving kids.
I'm just glad the box hasn't gone off to a private collector or an investment company never to bee seen again.

There are folks here, & around the world, that are too poor to buy groceries much less shoes. I agree that the whole world is ****ed up, but if I had that kind of money I wouldn't spend it on a damn box. Hell I wouldn't spend it on ANYTHING: half that for a home, maybe. OK if I had a billion I might splurge & pick one super car to drive, but I damned sure wouldn't be wasting it on a bunch of **** that I don't need nor will ever use. Like the Shek (sp?) that has so many cars, that his BATTERY bill is $40,000 a MONTH! Hell he'll never even be able to SEE all his ****ing cars, much less drive them!

  9. I agree with you the world is all ****ed up. I met a quite un***uming guy and spoke to him for around 15 mins, he was an OK bloke....My boss then tells me who he was, Some kind a Sultan from Quatar. he had just took delivery of his new 500sel Merc but as he couldn't decide on the colour he one of each...One full weeks production...All of which are still in his multistory carpark covered in dust with the bags still on the seats. That makes Dutch's box a real steal.
What really gets my goat is people like Paul McCartney, personal fortune of well over $1billion (closer to $2billion) yet he's constantly on about how we should be giving to charity, He could save the lives of millions but chooses not to, instead chooses to bang on about ****ing animal rights and don't eat meat because it's cruel.....Nice to have the choice!

I think its real funny how anything relating to K H can polarise people.

But if you guys need to have a heated discussion about a ****ing box, then talk about the box...

I never understand this logic when I hear it. In the countries where companies like Nike are paying $.50/hr for people to make shoes, that is a GOOD amount of money there. Those jobs are actually highly sought after - they're not the **** jobs that noone else will do. If Nike were to pay those folks $15/hour, their economy would collapse.

I spent about 3 weeks on Lombok, Indonesia surfing this year, and you know what the average per capita income is on Lombok? $350 USD. And the people who make that are the average - they have homes & motorbikes/cars/cell phones, they work for a living - fishing, trades, etc. And the kicker is they are the happiest people I have ever met in my life. I could be so lucky to live like that. I tipped our boat driver who was taking us out to the reef the equivalent of $5 USD the first day we were there and he totally freaked out - he literally couldn't handle it. It would be like someone giving you $1500 to drive you to the end of the block - it's absurd.

Obviously, not every economy is as strong as ours, and thinking that we should apply the same economic scale to 3rd world countries is a bit skewed.

    Just my $.02 worth...

    Allright,
    Enough of this ,
I have the original paint box,There were five made.
Von Franco, i think, has one ,and the others were given to friends .
Mine,(the original)was the one he used in 1972 when he striped a Harley for me at his shop on E.Princess ,north of Phoenix.
Dont remember what i paid for the job ,but afterward ,and after buying him a couple bottles of wine i ended up with the box.
Had it ever since.its not for sale, but after all this ,i might change my mind.
To whoever you are that bought that one at auction, sorry......
Maybe I'll decide to sell mine. who knows.
Lets see 4/5th's of $270.000 wouldnt be chump change would it.

Oh what the hell ,First $300.000 takes it.. .......
Because, after all, you know it is the (original).

Most rich people give a hell of alot of money away. Guys like this don't go around blowing their own horn (like what you are doing now). Plus it took years for guys like this to make their money. It wasn't handed to them they worked for it. So **** you and your 'I'm so great' at***ude, 'cause I give all I can', and piss off cause this board is not your ****ing soapbox!

HA!!! Nope - gave it to some kid you looked like he needed a donkey. I think the donkey (Edsel we named him) was happy to be rid of us and go back to a properly boring donkey life. Made the kid happy too. Maybe the kid ate him.
