The gas station is Rathburn brothers here in town. I think that block burned in the mid 50's in a big fire on that side of town. I still buy steel bolts and some other pieces from the grand son of one of them at his machine shop in town. The 41 Ford ragtop was my dads and the photo was taken by my uncle in late 1945 or sometime in 1946. Dads 41 Ford ragtop.jpg

Someone posted a photo of the T pot service station that was on highway 12 east of Zillah wa since right after the T pot dome scandle. I used to buy gas there once in a while when I was a kid

In 1878 it was moved about a mile west when I 82 was built though that area. I lived across the road from it for about three years in the late 80's. I bought my paper there every morning and bought gas pretty regularly. I'd push my lawnmower over, fill it up and push it home some times. Teapot_Dome_Service_Station.jpg A few years ago after it has been closed for a while the City of Zillah bought it and moved it to town and it is now the city's visitors center and again a popular spot for folks to take a photo of their car in front of it.
Hope no one gets upset with the newer photos but I wanted to give the history of it.

  25. My place was a gas station country store. There was a town here called Lima it had 27 buildings including a Post Office. Some disease killed everyone in town about 1940 and the Town Burned down. In the Fiftys a guy Named Tony Tucker built a block building and installed a lift on the west end. He pumped esso gas. fixed flats and did general repairs. esso plaque 002.JPG Any road I was digging a water line and found a Brass Plaque. its a 1/4 thick and about 8 x8 inches.

  29. Boron was a petrol additive in Caltex (NZ) or what ever the equivalent in the U.S. was, most likely Texaco. JW
