Ok, I did a search, but there are so many hits when searching for info on Paso that the search function kind of becomes useless. I've checked the west coast kustoms site, and I've seen their schedule. Here's my question: is it worth seeing Paso on Friday? Will there already be a lot of people there in the middle of the day? I'm thinking about blowing off work that Friday and going down, but if I do, I want to go on to LA that night to visit with some (non-enthusiast) friends for the weekend. But I definitely want to see Paso before I move to NYC in August.
Last year I was there on friday and it was pretty damn cool for a first time paso-er. I'd recommend it.
Anytime I can spend a Friday night out with friends and drink beer is a good time. Paso is just as good a place as any to do it.
Fri night is the cruise, where they block off the main street (Spring St, if my memory is correct). Only the cars entered in the show, it is fun to watch the cars go by. There is always some good night-time action around at several spots (old A&W drive-in burger shop, bowling alley [may be closed for remodeling??], etc)
If I could only be there one day, it would be Saturday. But Friday would be better than no Paso at all.
Mid day friday is still pretty good. No show obviously, but plenty of cars milling around waiting for the cruise, ripping around town and parking around the city park in order to go in and get their registration stuff. But it's going to be hard to leave and head out of town to see your boring non-car friends before the evening starts, because by about 6 or 7 there's a ton of cars in town
Can anyone suggest a good spot to park if you're not in the show itself? Like what other spots are popular and do they go fast? I'm getting there pretty early. I might find a spot and park there for the weekend if possible. Last year I went way late and didn't see much at all for open parking spots anywhere.
At the edges on the main strip and across the street are just as good as being in the park.... but good luck on finding a spot.
Be carefull where you park. The cops have sent us a letter talking about really going after illegal parkers this year. Especally across the street at the shell station and in any red zones. Craig
And mid day friday is good. Everyone comes in to pick up there packets at the library so you'll see plenty of cars. Craig
I go down on thursday every year not so hapening but still tons of cars and people. Friday is jumpin at the burger place on spring street and the bowling alley fills up around 11:00 ltr Dave
Friday is great. Saturday rules. And Sunday is perfect for checking out cars in detail and hitting up vendors for stuff they don't want to drag home
