It’s pretty solid, I feel like a jerk for not fixing it up, got to many irons in the fire. If you look real close it has a spare set of fenders in the back. Put it up for sale a while back, figuring I’ll never get to it. My son asked me to save it for him, so I pulled it off. Got another one in the barn, that my dad and I rebuilt a 312 for in 1966. That was the torquest engine! Can’t tell you how many gallons of gas I siphoned out it for my Cushman Eagle. That truck was our gas station on the ranch! Lol Loved driving it back when I was a kid. This thread is making me want to go out & dig my yard art 53 out of the snow bank. These have always been my favorite trucks. This pic is from a couple years ago so the snow bank will be much thicker.
My lil effie I had when I was 17-18. This would of been around 1999. Man I loved that truck! About a year or so later I shaved the handles and mirrors. I wish I still had it... I'd change the wheels out to a set of buick wires and 1" Whites like the nugget. I might have to clone my own truck (likely with an olds motor this time around)..

I like that, too...but not enough to go the route of doing one. I stated this to my ol' bud Preston Ledbetter (F100 parts unltd.) in San Jose, '76. Preston said "Why do all that cutting? I have a FACTORY cab upstairs, yours for $1K. We went up and looked at it, sure enough it was an original '55 with Big Back Window! I still 'doubted' it, so Preston showed me the Ford body parts book. (Genuine Ford, Preston was the retired Ford truck parts manager, San Jose Ford) I nearly did it, but was building 2 street roadsters at the time. I also happened upon the closed-down plant of 'Goodtimes Ice Cream Co.', on Julian St., San Jose. Their old ice cream trucks were '53-'54 F100 pickups with the freezer boxes instead of beds. The cool part was that they were coach conversions, tops removed, windshields modified with header bars (nicely done!) and convertible top mechanisms. Imagine...'55 Roadster Pickup! Glad I restrained...but that big window haunts me.....Good move, Wizzard!
Oh YOUR'E the one who bought it. Bruce said Nick bought it, but I was uncertain who "Nick" was haha! Yeah that truck rules. I found Bruce those chrome running boards in CA and brought them up for him. Now I'm looking for a set for my 55...so if you wanna unload them just swing into Spokane on your way through HAHAHA!

Your right,doing a 56,replaced most of the bottom of the cab.Lots of patch panels out there,none of them fit out of the box.But worth the trouble.
It's a shame what happened to the tan one, a 9 year old radial tire came apart, causing it to leave the road, and get totaled.
I don't have pics, but it was my old friend Paul Smith, he got busted up pretty bad, as he was in his mid-70's. You might remember him from the drags, won some major national events with his 55 Chevys. This happened a couple of years ago, I saw him recently, he is doing fine, but he misses that truck !
Had not heard that Marty. Paul Smith is legendary in these parts, watched him many times in the 70's.
Ouch! That rollover in a metal cab like that had to hurt unless you're wearing a crash helmet. Glad he's ok. I've always preferred the slanted windshield posts and triangular wing windows. Drove a ratty '53 with a 390 & Cruiso for years, sold it and later bought the '55. Just can't go for long without an old Ford pu. That's my blue '55 attached to the canned ham in Post #33. Both will be in the HAMB classifieds shortly.

I ran a stock 66 galaxie 352 four bbl engine in my 56 truck for a long time. 250 horse and it idled nice didn't use much gas. and would run circles around and out pull the original Y block boat anchor mill. A FE with a stick trans is lots of fun. Get a set of 330 F600 exhaust manifolds and weld up the extra hole and they really help the exhaust flow.
