Going has been fairly slow on my 1960 Cadillac progress, but things are starting to move again (being busy with work, etc is my lag excuse...) Attached are photos of progress: 1) Pic once i finished air bag suspension a while back 2) Pic when I was finishing up rebuilding top end 3) Pic of the Detroit Racing Equip intake im currently rebuilding and will put on 4) Pic taken today, as it's now at Gambino Kustoms for Alex to spray the paint (silver metal flake roof w/ Suede blue bottom) Alex is DA sanding the old paint off (body looks good underneath) and I just finished taking the bumpers off (which i'll strip apart and send out to bumper shop.) We're going to shave the side trim, door handles, side mirror, hood and deck, etc. I have the wide whites and 57 Caddy caps as well. Will post pics again when Alex starts to spray (by the way, I recommend Gambino Kustoms 100%-- Alex is very talented and a good guy to work with.) -scott noteboom
Rocket, he answered that already haha I think that's going to be a very nice custom. Seems like Alex is also MR.CADDYMAN. I'm going to try to stop by the shop next month when I'm here visiting family...
Sheeee-it, that thing is going to be nice. Dude down the street from me has a 60 soft top that I wish I could talk him into selling. I guess I'll have to continue to live vacariously through the HAMB.
Your car is going to be killer, i dropped by yesterday and took a look at it. Your right about alex, i think the guy could probably work in his sleep...and have it come out really great. lots of creativity and a shit load of drive in that shop. if i ever manage to get something worth painting nice, i would definately put him on my list of people to go to.
Scott, I was wondering when some pics would surface. Love finding out what the locals are sporting. Your paint scheme sounds very close to the one I was considering for my falcon. Can't wait for the flake shots. After 50Chevy's dash posts, a whole roof of flake, exciting. Jon
I LOVE ghetto cruisers! (Sorry, that certainly wasn't very politically correct) I think the 60 body style was the best of that era. you're off to a great start! Good Luck, & keep them pics coming!
Sounds like a great color combo. I did the same to my 59 caddy a few years ago. Silver with Blue flake roof. and dark blue suede body with lighter blue scallops with miles of pinstripping from Krazy Keith. My body if very rough though. Love to see the same take on paint with a clean body. Brad
Looks good. I think I've seen this on the south side. I'm also starting on a 60 coupe. I'll have to get a few tips.
Yeah, i live on the south side, so you've probably seen it. Look forward to seeing your '60 coupe as well. I call dibs on blue w/ silver flaked roof-- as we don't want twins in the neighborhood. That's kinda like two girls wearing the same dress to the prom Let me know if you need any help on the Caddy. Take care, -scott noteboom
Your shit out of luck with that paint. I put that on my 59 a couple of years ago. And yes the car is a local South Bay car. Sorry
OK, I noticed at Paso that blue and green has been done on 1960 Caddy's already. So, i'm not going silver metal flaked roof w/ a blue lower color.... So, i've spent a lot of time thinking and i'm going something different--- and while I can picture something in my head-- i'm not the paint artist. So, i'm absolutely trusting Alex Gambino at Gambino Kustoms who will run with it.... Here's a picture as a teaser / clue of what i'm thinking.... Copper makes cents anyway huh? So, it's making sense to me too... (damn, im getting cheesy on y'all...) By the way, we're at bare metal now and Alex is shaving things & working metal. Color will come soon. -scott noteboom
