That's not a genuine Australian licence plate. Each state issues its own plate.

SWI66 I thought I recognized this building or at least the store front at the end of those cars.

The store front I'm referring to is 1012 as opposed to 1016 and it is Tough Traveler bag company. All kinds of bags made in the USA right there in Schenectady I just bought one there and had some modifications done to it. I carry it proudly!

Just did some research and cropping, it was a Studebaker dealer before Plymouth. Notice Studebaker logo on top corners of bldg.

Its not genuine. Austalia as a country ( actually its a continent) does not issue number plates. Each individual state or territory, issues there own plates.

I believe the engine powering the blower is a WWII surplus drone engine.

I believe that's driver Carl Scarborough at Indy in 1951 in the first attached photo. He's talking to track owner Tony Hulman and crooner Rudy Vallee on the right. I'm not sure about the lady. Tony Hulman and Vallee had attended Yale University together.

I'm guessing the second photo was taken around 1965. And because of the front roll hoop on the nose of the sprint car this may be an IMCA race. But that's definitely the Terre Haute Action Track.

  19. The only thing missing in this pic is the American flag! It's a Maryland car and the date on the license tag looks like '63, maybe.

I believe that first pic is from 1953 and the lady is Jane Greer who was the race queen that year. She was also married to Vallee for a short time some years earlier.

You are correct. And since that's the year Scarborough died in the race that year, supposedly from heat exhaustion but there were other factors as well.

    Thanks, Rootie.
