I wish I could. My mother has also passed, but she would have loved to know people would still be interested in these photo's.

Jeff I am sorry...please accept our condolences for your Loss of your Mother and Step Father.

We Thank You and Both of Them in Spirit.

I really hope your having a good time mingling with the membership and finding content to your liking...it isn't perfect but it's pretty diverse and of course celebrating the good ole days today. I was 5 years old in 65 you had lots of exposure to motion...I not so but I step back to then in interest as I find the Hamb's range of years covered to be the incredibly cool to study, enjoy and have an inspired Hotrod too help step back.

Simply stunning. These are likely the best such photos in existence.

Thanks again for these pictures, Jeff. This is about when I started paying attention to Bonneville and wanting to see it. Hot Rod always had good articles about it but your picture are WAY better. Does anyone have an idea how fast the 500x went? And what powered it?

  20. Jeff, thanks a bunch for taking the time to post Della's excellent photos. You could publish a Bonneville picture book with them.

@jpierce I see AK around so many different vehicles did he race just one vehicle per event or were there several classes with numerous vehicles he piloted?

These are the best salt pix of the ones recently posted.... Of course - some sadness knowing that the Athol Graham and Herda liners would crash and kill their drivers. Ak and his love for pointy cars never fails to tickle me. Outstanding stuff from legendary days.

This was Alan Richards Egg. It went 56mph. Got up to 70 but could not sustain it through the traps. I loved that thing.

Dean, did you see in pictures with you in it? Some kids in the pits with your dads car, but I looked like they were younger than you.

Mostly one car. At this time his title at Ford was "High Performance Adviser", basically Ford sent him all the letters they received from customers that wanted to hop up their Fords and Ak would answer the through letters. He also traveled with the Ford Caravan to the bigger Auto shows. They wanted him to run certain motors at these events.

Sad to say these 4 years are most of what I have. My mother took a whole lot more photo's but over the years they were replaced in the Kodak reels with family photo's and lost or trashed.

Thank you very very much for taking the time to post all of The Bonneville pictures. They are outstanding and have also led to some great stories about the cars and people. These where some of the heavy hitters of the golden years of speed and hot rodding.
