I've been working on the '39 pickup cab for a few days now, wanted to take the rust off the door I finally took off Monday. You don't want to breath in rust dust, and I couldn't find the box of paper masks, didn't want to put it off till the next day, I was on a roll and motivated. No cowboy bandanas, but there were some T shirts in the laundry, now to hold it in place. Turns out I share a neck size with our last Lab, her old collar was on a hook in the ba*****t. Worked out better than a dust mask, no rust smell, no rust dust in my nose or throat, and no brown lungers being hacked up. Ran out of daylight, door is looking good.

Did the collar have big spikes on it?

Bob do what you must and no matter what working on dirty old car is no beauty contest...hey have a walk down the street after sanding wearing that you might start a new fashion trend...:D...and yeah no pics please we believe you...

They ain't the cheapest but I use these...

I actually use them several times sometimes till the nose tab breaks...your worth it buddy...;)...buy a box at the jobbers store you get a better deal...in the mean time the t-shirt collar arrangement is probably better than many of the **** masks available...

You only have 1 set of lungs...

  7. Tee shirt fabric probably wasn't too bad a choice! I hate those little white dust masks, usually use an old throw-away painting mask that no longer kills the paint fumes, fits the face much better.

The one I posted has a valve that makes breathing a little easier...and I don't like them either however it's a choice.

Walked up on a friend once while he was painting a car and he thought no one was around, He had his mask on but was wearing a santa clause hat (in summer time) to cover his hair I guess...:D I never said a word but had to laugh a little to myself:)
