    Merc was running like ****, got so it would not stay running. Ended up tearing the carb apart, Float bowl had some white flaky stuff, plugging everything, Dissasemble to clean and the accelerator pump leather was all but gone.. Gasohol???

    Most likely. Alcohol dries out leather like nobody's bidniz.

    Ethanol,is just plain nasty to older cars try www.allcarbs.com for an ethanol resistant replacement. A lot of guys are using an old friend Marvel Mystery Oil as a preventative additive. There are other companies that claim to have additives for ethanol at about triple the cost :rolleyes:
