what do you guys do to replace the faux woodgrained sides and tailgate, is there an aftermarket panel kit? or am i gonna have to airbrush it thanks in advance
3M makes some good woodgrain. Not sure what its called thou... I****ume you are talking about the inserts. I would airbrush the entire area.. looks more like a woodie that way..
I am dying for some interior parts but the outsides are usally air brushed. I know my dad is talking about taking a class by one of the local paint stores that says you buy the tools at Home Depot and just clear it all. Any other info we could generate here would be cool.
both of those cars were airbrushed.. Find a paint store and ask them. they should be able to find the 3M stuff if you want decal. I see it on ebay occassionally also.. there is also self adhesive shelving paper from the local Walmart.. would work if you plan to clear coat over it.
The really good looking ones are done with the old method..JDee is an expert. It involves[usually]..a laquer base in a yellowbeige withan oil base brown/ toner that is dragged to replicate grain markings with a rubber tool or other method then when the two are dry it has a urethane topcoat....here is a Buick me and Roger Ward did,,it was grained by Ron Steward of KCMo.
Well, I got my first "tin woodie" 1950 Chevy. A California car that is amazingly rust free. Hope to pick it up this week.
Since this came back from the past, and I have a phoney bark Ford,, I was thinking of automotive wrap,, it seems to have a long 'shelf' live and it is made for outdoors...
