I will preface this post with this disclaimer: I AM NEW!

I have the chance to buy a set of 4 ea. new 15" Dunlop '78' Wide White Radials for a great deal. But will they work with on my Chrysler wich call for 8.2-15? Is there a good resource for conversions? I already checked coker.com but saw nada. I need some help ASAP as I am buying them tomorrow.

    THNX!

Do you mean L78? That's a bias-ply size that's somewhat narrower than the 8-9 inch wide casings that you're looking for, IIRC.

If it's a radial, it should have a metric tire size, where the first number is the casing width in millimeters (255mm=10inches), the second number is the aspect ratio (a 70-series tire has sidewalls 70% as tall as the casing width) and the final number is the wheel bead diameter in inches. Any letters in the size code signify type of tire construction (R), use (P=P***enger vehicle, LT=Light Truck, etc.) or speed rating (H, HR, ZR, etc.)

Obviously my biggest problem is my ignorance. The only info I have from my old Chrysler reference manuel is section width-rim size: 8.20-15 (820-15).

The Dunlops actually have a big '78' stamped on the outside of the wall, 'Dunlop Special "78" ' is what it says, but according to the guy who is selling them they are radials. He is a pretty known guy around town and doesn't have a bad reputation or anything.

Is there a formula to convert bias ply sizes to radial?

... I think I just got it figured out...and without getting into a biasply vs radial debate :)
