Damn, man. You'd probably get some decent revenue from Google AdSense with that traffic. I read the other thread you wrote earlier about advertising. But I think the text based ads are cool because a) there's no animation b) you can set the style so it blends with the site.
I look everytime I check the sale ads. you never know what someone needs or what they are willing to trade for. plus if I was looking for some part that someone had that they were never going to use I hope they would be looking too.
when i joined i put a "want" up for a truck and got about 10 emails within a day of what guys had. nothing i coulde either afford or were close enough but someone must have seen my post to generate that amount of replies. keep em separate.
Just to make this clear, we are talking about the "Wanted" section (people looking to buy parts) not the "For Sale" section (people selling parts) . If you got something you were probably in the "For Sale" section. If you sold something then you were probably in the "Wanted section".
I look at it every couple of days, I helped a guy out lookin for piece of stainless trim for his car. I thought it was cool helping out this guy in Ohio, with something I had hangin on the wall in the garage for years. My 2 cents, CBB
I do look at the Wanted ads, but only AFTER I have been through 3 or 4 pages of stuff for Sale.I think that I FORGET that the Wanted ads are there. So I look at the Wanted ads about half as much or less than the For Sale ads.I did like it more when they were combined.
Sawzall, I do, but just not as much as I used to. I look at the for sale section about 2 or 3 times a day, and probably about once a day at the wanted section. I miss the "feel" of the old for sale section but I sure as hell don't miss all of the bullshit btt's, wish I were closer, wish I had the money, or flame outs where folks would nail some guy for either what he was selling or how much he was asking it. Maybe all of the problems were also part of the feel...I don't know. If it were easy I'm sure Ryan would have already handled it. We've got the best thing going on the entire internet. I'm willing to overlook a few of the rough spots in order to enjoy what Ryan and the boys have put together for us. My 2 cents, Thor
I read both usually , perhaps not as deep on the wanted but still I do look at it often. Thor, I'm with you about having the best thing going!! What ever Ryan comes up with about this subject will suit me "Jest fine" dave
It's all I can do to find time to read the threads and do some posting. I very rarely look at the classifieds although I'm sure that would change if I was in need of a part I couldn't find. With 2 teenage daughters my computer time is limited as I don't work around computers all day.
I check the wanted and for sale sections about twice a week on average, even though I'm not really looking for anything now. Mutt
I like structure. Organization. Things to be in their proper place. It makes perfect sense to keep the two apart. It is also easier to navigate for those in a hurry or w/ a short attention span Leave it alone
I check everything every day I also read the paper everyday and check my email every day I have bought stuff and sold one item just from the wanted section Keep it the way it is I likes it Ken
If you ask me, (and nobody does cause I'm basically an idiot) the problem is the format. The wanted and for sale should be grouped together, but organized by year and make. The board format (template?) used here does not accomodate that kind of organizing. Its basically a post/reply format. It would prolly be damn difficult to change that although Im sure if it can be done the folks here could do that.
I check both the for sale and wanted. You never know when somebody might need something that you have in your garage that has sit for 20 years or more. I like it the new way.
Seeing the classifieds reunited again would be great, I never look at the Wanted section as it's lonely and dark over there, almost feels like sitting on the sofa while the party is going strong in the kitchen... As for segregating everything into years, regions or specific item catagories that would once again stiffle and divide the forum. It's just like a swap meet as in you've got to tour all the aisles and keep your eyes on the ground or your friend may be walking away with that prize that you came for...
I just always forget to look now days, still trying to ge stuff picked up that was poaid for in the winter last year, is there still snow on the ground in mi. ??.........................
I look all the time. I have a little system. First I look in the wanted section to see if anyone needs any of the junk I have, then I check for sale even if I'm not looking for anything. I have bought some cool stuff even when I didn't need it! And then I go to the HAMB. Works for me.
I read the "wanted" & "for sale" sections at least twice a day. It's a good feeling to help out someone who needs something to finish their project. I like the two sections separated; it's easier to see what's wanted and for sale. I do like it since we are able to post replies in these sections again; it was kinda dead feeling w/o replies.
i read the wanteds every time i sign on. only 6-10 new posts every day anyway. i'm glad some people do though:i needed some wheels to keep my project going and 4 hours after posting i had a pair on the way. thats service!
While I am, in fact, a FNG - I prefer the new way, having had limited experience with the "old" way. I peruse the want ads about once a week, as I do have some "stuff" on the shelves that may help another rodder. Someday, I'm sure I'll see someone needing a set of dual underslung muffler belts...or dual overhead brake linings...or even a NOS "Risky" cam. I prefer to have the different sections segregated, then it's a bit easier to just scour the ads that suit my mood (buy or sell).
