What are you guys running for gear lube in these older trans? This one is a 63' from a LeMans or so I was told.
Thanks for the info. Does it need to be GL-4 non synthetic? Sent from my moto z3 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I wouldn't recommend synthetic in in a used trans at this point. If it was a newly rebuilt unit you could probably get away with it but you got to remember the the blocking rings in the synchros we're not designed to use synthetic saying there was no such thing being marketed back then.
NAPA usually stocks Sta-Lube in GL-4, the "older generation" manual gearboxes need the GL-4 formula, that's what I got for my Muncie. About two minutes of internet research will confirm it, just remember, not everything you read on the internet is gospel.
Right. I figured the collective knowledge here would know better. Thanks Sent from my moto z3 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Brad Penn makes a GL4, the last bottle I bought a few months ago was from Richmond Gear. I find it harder and harder to find in regular old parts stores.. double up on the blood pressure meds if you have to ask for it at the counter...
