  4. Looks like a great trip, thanks for sharing.
I'm always intrigued by road journey experiences with vintage cars, especially ones on scenic routes, so I'll look forward to reading about your other similar(?) trips.

P.S. Besides being a bit OT and likely irrelevant to most, I did notice a small description inaccuracy regarding the engine in the Wagoneer. It appears to be one from 365 GTC/4 (type "F101" engine) instead of 365 GTB/4 (type "251" engine). ;)

Ah, Kings Canyon. Heaven on Earth. Boy, I put on a lot of miles going up and down 180 back in high school. My old stomping grounds.

    Hey JH,
Another outstanding story and fabulous photos. You are one lucky guy to be able to cruise around doing these cool things. The three national parks were stamped on our own national park booklet years ago. We still have a lot more to go to get to where you are on the "DID IT" list. California does have its share of dense forests and also a ton of "Old Growth" redwoods. As little kids riding in the back of my dad's 1952 4 door Buick sedan, we had a great time staying in one of those Yosemite tents and having breakfast at the Ahwahnee Hotel. (now called some ridiculous name...)

The next trip up there, our family actually stayed at the famous Ahwahnee Hotel. In the late 60s, my wife and I tried to stay there, but they were booked up, so we trekked through the Tioga P*** to get to Lee Vining for an overnight stay. Normally, we would have waited for morning to drive through the Tioga P***, as it is less dangerous. But, we knew we had to get through the "scary" drive, so we could see the early morning scene at Mono Lake.

Thanks for the great trip write up. I am sure there are loads of envy from all of us readers. It was well written and enjoyable in a great, travel, journal style.

My favorite spot in SF… serenity, solitude and a great view. A great photo…
