I wonder when someone is going to repop Guide, BLC headlights? It is getting rediculous what they are fetching on Ebay. An "almost NOS" pair went for almost $700 yesterday. CRAZY!! Hell, I see junk buckets going for over $100!
I like the real stuff, but...... Damn!

I'm sure there's a factory in China eager to start cranking them out.

  4. Hmmm, and I donated mine to a HAMB auction.

I was watching that same set of NOS guide headlights, That price was insane. Another set went for close to $200 and the buckets where rusted to the point they looked more like a screen door than headlights.

The way they have been selling on ebay - I bet you could get $700 for them, but not from me! I can't believe nobody has started repopping them.

I picked up a mint set of BLC 682J's at the LA Roadster Show swap meet last year.....paid $150......painted the buckets and bolted them onto my headlight bar on my Deuce........I love 'em and they look pretty sneaky.....no parking lens on top......and they had new headlight bulbs in them to boot!

If they were good enough for Doane Spencer on the quintessential Deuce Roadster.......they're good enough for me!!

If they start reproducing them again, it's time to use something else!
No point in being part of the flock!

I don't know if they are going to repop them but I don't see why not.. It's not that hard from a production point.. Plus they make a few lights/parts that could be interchanged. Also you really can't price them with ebay, I have seen set go for under a hundred bucks and almost a grand.. At the garage days there was a nice set from a HAMB lurker,(nice guy, cool **** and know a ton on the old cars) asking price was 150 and and took less for a Cheater.. I think if you shop you'll find them for under 200 bucks..

I got the last set my Dad had. He bought them years ago at sales/auctions for $2.00 to $5.00 a set, said nobody wanted them. About ten years ago, my sister used several sets to make hanging baskets for flowers. She took out the len's/headlamp buckets, and hung them up with wire.

  15. I got a pair off an old White Dumptruck(with turn indicators)...and another set(without indicators)from a "free" pile at a garage sale one day....none had the coveteted Guide tag still intact, so they ain't as "cool" ...but I still like them.....

Problem is now I just gatto figure out which ones I wanna use.... :)

I think they are very cool headlights. I'm just saying if they ever get reproduced, they'll be like gl*** '32 roadsters.
They are popular a**** the traditional rodders now but once the 1800 guys see them sitting in their mail order catalogues, we'll see them on everything.
I notice the price of Guides and B.L.C's going up every day. I was lucky to buy a box with odd ones and a good pair for $15 about 10 years ago.(nobody wanted them then)
It's the Electrolines that are going for silly moola$

Yes, a lot of large trucks used them, so go to where the big truck graveyards are. They still show up at swap meets for reasonable prices; I've got a big $17.00 invested in the nice pair I kept for my coupe--bought one at one swap meet for $5, and the other a couple months later at another meet for $12.

What Heathen said. You can get good hits going to Tractor/Steam shows. They bring out alot of auto-related parts in the swap areas.
I go to a power show in Wellington, Ohio every Sept. and pick up lights for $75.00 and under. One wall in my shop is starting to look like a tribute to Dolly Parton!!!

They are still available at a reasonable price if you shop. I bought 3 nice prs of BLCs off E-Bay average price under 175.00. Then scored 2 pr of very nice Guides at a swapmeet for 150.00 a pr. They neatest ones were a pr. of Deitz with a small marker light on top shaped like the Guide marker, 150.00 bought at a swapmeet.

Did anybody see the Electrolines on ebay that were at $1800? They still had an hour to go.

Damn, and when i bought mine i thought 25 bucks was a bit steep. one of em had a small dent in it... of course that was 5 years ago.....

  28. I have a real nice set on my 34 . Got them so cheap it would make you cry.

  29. We checked into the guide 682c about a year ago. the tooling cost was about $65,000 and it would be about $125.00 per light. I didn't think it would work at those prices. I think the reason they are so hot is they are hard to find and once they are repoped the demand will go away. The lights would have to sell for about $450.00 a pair and it would take several years to just break even. Cool idea but not too profitable.

There is a limited number of Guide, BLC lights out there and eventually the cost of repopping them will be worth the investment. Example - '32 Ford roadsters got hard to find and someone started repopping them and the demand is still there. Judging by the prices for the nice sets of headlights, it is just about time to think about it.
