Nope. No way. I live in the Deep South for a reason. I like it hot. I hope this lasts til Christmas. Not a fan of A/C or cool weather, more a fan of global warming.
If you don't have sweat dripping on your work then its not the right temp.

I HATE heat! When I was younger I was told that when you get older you become more tolerant of the heat and less tolerant of the cold. I have found, in my case, my tolerable zone has narrowed. I'm not as comfortable at 20 as I was but it's still better than 85! I like my music and temoeratures in the 50s and 60s!

I just don't understand people complaining about the weather, it is what is, put your jacket on or take it off and get on with your life. Bob

Not crazy about the snow! We have had the hot and wettest Summer I could remember. As long as I have A/C for sleeping I will take the warmth. I do like the change of seasons and not much severe weather here.:) I heard that North Carolina got enough water to cover the entire State with 10" I spent ten days this summer at my daughters in northern CA. It was perfect weather every day. At the end of the ten days I wanted some rain.

This statement reminds me of our neighbor that moved here from Midland Michigan about 8 years ago, he always laughed at the dumb Southerns that were afraid to drive in the snow and how everything seemed to close if we had a few inches of snow.

I tried to explain to him when we get snow it's usually after it has rained most of the day and then the temperatures drop and the roads have a good coat of ice and the wet snow falls, driving in the snow is not the problem but the ice is a major problem.

We were in the front yard with our grandchildren when he ask us did we need anything from town, he jumped in his car and backed down his driveway he eased out into the street and tapped his brakes trying to turn but slid and dropped of the road into a wooded lot and did a lot of damage to his late model Cadillac.

We got to him as fast as possible and helped him get out of the car and he said what happen?

Seeing he and his wife were unhurt I told him he slid off the road, he told me he had always been able to drive in snow, I reminded him again, it;s not just snow, the road is covered with black ice. HRP

I moved from MN to central Colorado to avoid winter weather. I've had to adjust to hotter summers, but when it snows here, it melts in a day or two and i can be back on the road with my old car.

The same thing here, except by the time a hurricane gets this far up it's just hard wind and rain.

I worked outside until I was in my late 20's, then got in a semi truck. Sitting on my butt day after day, heat in winter, AC in summer, has spoiled me. I can't take the heat now like I did, anything over 80* is too hot. Same with the cold, Author visits me regularly in cold weather, anything less than about 45* or 50* is too cold. Spring and fall are my favorite seasons, the other two I spend a lot of my free time in the house.

I have found as I have gotten old that I get a chill in my bones in the fall/winter and nothing I can do will remove it, no matter how many clothes or heat sources I have. It stays with me until spring. So I will enjoy my 3 months of 90 degree days. It ain't hot til its about 97 with 90 per cent humidity, then it starts to get uncomfortable, but I am able to cool off better than I can warm up in the winter. To each his own.

I was sent to New Bern NC by my company for a few days. We always were allowed to rent a car so we toured the area, Ft Macon, Emerald and barrier islands and general area in the evenings. Beautiful with a lot of history. It hurts to see what the people of New Bern are going through. All the Carolinas are special so my hope is that the recovery is quick.
Coming from middle Canada it was a change. The temperature was low 70's but the humidity was crushing. One of the crew at the mill reached to pick up a large hose in the mill yard and was tagged by a water moccasin that was against the hose. One of the managers asked if it was a lost time and there was a prompt reply "when was a snake bite not a few days in the hospital". We were there to review major work at the mill and I asked if there was contingency for wind with respect to the high crane swinging boiler panels. The reply was we go home & that took me back. The mill people were thinking hurricane vs my thinking of a heavy wind.

We went for suppers with our hosts and they had their stories of an inch or two of snow. One of our hosts asked what we did in the winter. My boss said that guys like me take their snow machines or drive their trucks out on the ice, build a fire and enjoy the fishing. Some asked why? The concept of enjoying activities in the cold or driving on a frozen lake brought smiles as it did not fit in the southern mind. My boss told the guys that our mill ran wood trucks on the ice in the winter and our hosts thought we were pulling their legs. Ice Truckers has come out 20 years later so someone may have seen it. We have warm snowmobile suits and 100 below boots. Half the time fishing with our jackets open to keep from over heating. Usually by the time a person has cut some wood for a fire they are so warm that they don't need a fire other than to cook smokies over. Last year winter started early and stayed long enough so I stand with my fellow Canadians in that were are happy to put off winter. You are welcome to take care of our snow until we are ready to take it back in mid to late November. I don't mind using the snow blower as it is cooler than cutting grass. :)

I was sent south on many occasions and it always seemed Septembers are the US tennis opens and a hurricanes in the gulf or the Atlantic. My flights were redirected a couple times due to hurricanes.

I was in Houston a year or three before Katrina where a big hurricane was bearing down on Galveston and Houston. I flew out hours before it was due to hit land fall. The pilot did a circle so that the passengers on both sides could see the hurricane. There was a huge dome bulging through the clouds that was both impressive and very ominous. That hurricane hit cold water and veered into Lousianna to become a level 2 tropical storm. Galveston & Houston have been hard hit with unimaginable hurricanes.

People in the sights of a hurricane are at the mercy of the elements. I can not imagine how hard it is to live with that threat every year and the throw of the dice as to what area is going to be next. I will happily stay on this side of the line. 30 below with snow and sun is not that hard to take. Throw another log in the fire or venture somewhere warm for a break. Winter is perfect for working on a project. Friends and I built a large 4 seat Bearhawk aircraft from scratch over the course of a some winters. Summer is for camping at a wide choice of our many lakes with beaches for free & fishing for free with friends. We are out numbered by none resident fisherman 5:1 who are mainly our American neighbors.

Life is good. It is all a matter of what a person likes, adapts too and makes the best of whatever is their life.

You know Don, I know exactly what your talking about staying cold.

I'm afraid New Bern will take many years to recover, I doubt it will ever fully recover, it is sad. HRP

I helped doing clean up after Katrina. Worst devastation I've ever witnessed . When I came home I told my wife to stock lots of water and emergency supplies. We still do.

We had a high temp of 90 yesterday, with 97% humidity, the temps stayed in the low 80s/upper 70s most of the night. Today it the high was in the low 70s with a 25 mph wind! They are talking about it getting down to 45 tonight. The extreme changes in the temperatures we have had this year have been a killer. I can handle the cold, and I can handle the heat, but a little time to adjust to one or the other would be nice. When the temp changes 45 degrees in 24 hours, your body simply can't adjust.

One thing about the Midwest, if you don't like the weather, wait a day or two. Gene
