Hi, I think I might have a "situation" on my hands. I'm running a '53 flathead with an S10 T5, got the kit, clutch disc, etc from Flat-O. I haven't started the engine and, as of right now, I can only get the trans to shift into 3rd and 4th gear. I vaguely remember it going through all gears while out of the car. The trans is drained, too...make a difference? My question is, should I pull the engine/trans and make sure it's shifting through all gears before I try hooking up the clutch linkage or starting the car? :(

Try to turn the output shaft back and forth abit when you try to shift the gears. Might be just the syncros are just not lined up right.

Ok, I tried this and got it to switch from going into 3rd/4th to 1st/Reverse. I guess this is an improvement! :D

Hook up the clutch make sure it is releasing, then if you have problems pull the ******.

Hook up and adjust the clutch. You can't tell anything until that much is done.

    Update! :D

I hooked up the clutch linkage and adjusted all the play out of it to make sure the clutch was fully disengaging. The trans only went into 1st. I got under the car and turned the driveshaft (attached only to trans) a little and now it only goes into 2nd. Remember, this car has never been run and the trans is "junkyard fresh." Is this something I should worry about?
