Well. I got insurance on the Lincoln Fri morning, Sold my old daily driver at lunch. Pull the Lincoln out of the shop to drive her back to work. Have a great drive, even though it was to finish the second half of the day at work. Wad of cash in my pocket, full tank of gas. Park it at work, everyone asking me about it, looking it over, approving. Finish up my day, decide to pick up a few parts for the Holley carb thats on it. Need to jet it down a couple sizes. Talk with the guy at the parts store, show him the mill the flaked roof, etc. So I'm driving the last couple of miles to the shop. Gonna park it there for the night. I pick up the new interior on Sat. It's gonna be great. Tuck and roll metalflake to match the roof, with contrasting leatherette. I get about 200 yards from my turn off of the main road. I have a turn lane on the right side of the 2 main lanes. Traffic is stopped in the 2 left lanes. (they are backed up at the traffic light.) The turn lane is open. There is a motorcycle in front of me, a slight rain is falling. Then it happens. WHAM!!!! stupid *****coming form the other direction darts between the stopped traffic in the left lanes. She just misses the bike, but here comes 5000 lbs of steel. My drivers front smashes into her right front wheel. Sent her car sailing, yet completely ****ed the entire drivers front of the Lincoln. rammed the rad into the waterpump. Killed the 1500 dollar front bumper. pushed the fender into the door, and the door into the center post that hinges the rear door. Door no longer closes. Car doesn't look that bad, but parts are a ***** to find. Her insurance says they will probably total my car. Yet I have it insured for 13,000.00 with my insurance. I'm afraid they will seriously try and low ball me. Oh well, the motorcyclist was missed. She wasn't hurt, I wasn't hurt too bad. Neck hurts, and elbow is back and blue. Had to vent to the guys that can relate.
She wasn't hurt? I believe she would not have been able to walk if it were my car....But it seems like you are taking it well. Good luck.
no way man, i was lucky to check that car out and in person and its *****in. best of luck to you in getting the settlement you deserve.
ditto. although its strange, when someone tboned me the person had statefarm and they ended up paying 14k plus a few hundy for a rental car to fix my 2002 blazer that i think was barely worth that.
there is never a settlement till you agree! just don't agree till you are satisfied. hire a crook 'er lawyer (sorry all lawyer HAMBers but I'm sure you've heard it before)if you have to.
See a doctor right now and start whining about vague back symptoms. Insurance companies need that to get their attention...medical stuff, not sheetmetal, is the big ticket for them, and if there's at least a hint of injury claim brewing they will be anxious to get you to sign off as completely paid and be willing to cover the tin well to get you DONE. Also, with that hard an impact, you WILL be feeling things in 24 hours, and best have things underway in case you DO have a new back prob.
Collect from YOUR insurance and let THEM battle it out....you'll get your $$$ as long as you have an AGREED value policy...not ACTUAL value. And I hope your policy was in your hands when the accident happened. A company can, in some instances, deny a claim since they didn't "agree" to insure you at that value until you have the papers in your hand. Simply paying the premium isn't enough...good luck with this deal...what a mess!
Damn dude! sorry to hear that.same thing happened to me last week i just got off the phone with the insurance company, their already saying "WOW $4,500 thats a little steep for repairing a '63 ranchero, let our adjuster take a look at it and figure out if we have to total your car or not?" i told him bullsh*t my car is not a total loss but parts to fix what your client damaged aren't cheap! fight for what your car is worth.
next time im in a fender bender my first call will be to my lawer dude sue sue sue that *****. i got 300$ from state farm for a maxda mini that was featured in mini truckin two months before the wreck and they said 91 mazda 100,000+miles was 300 no matter what i did to it! lawyer up and take her to the cleaners
Almost same exact thing happened just recently to my dad and his '40 fourdor... so far we're at $12,000, and that is with them forcing the body shop to try and straighten out the trunk floor from the grand cherokee that hit him full on from behind... crazy b!tch "didn't see him." hmmmm... sunny dy, black car, and 2 blocks from the last stop sign. hit him hard enough to push him up over the curb, and into a 5" wooden fence post. now his all original '40 is trashed on both ends, and will not be all original ever again.... my whole family is more than upset... State Farm is trying to do a little on the not so up and up side, but Dad is being vigilant about the claim.
