"After World War II, franchised gasoline additives gave way to individual refiners chemical compounds. Both Shell and Conoco enhanced their product with an additive known as "TCP." The element boron was added to gasoline offered by Sohio, DX and Richfield of California and nickel was added to Sinclair fuels. While these later additives do not often have a direct interest to collectors of petroleum memorabilia, they are referenced in print ads and on signs and globes. Sohio went so far, of course, as to introduce Boron as a secondary brand."

  10. Ok I found a picture of our place in a old yearbook from when it was a grocery and gas. Tony Tucker built the building and ran it as Tony,s station for a few years. He left and opened a gas station in Jonesboro. Rented the place to a widow and her Teen son. D&M stood for **** & mom. The widow eventually purchased the place. D & M Grocery store.jpeg

Robinson's gas station at 5 corners in Es*** jct, VT. Torn down in the 70's, replaced with something not as interesting.

  15. Don't know how to put these photos on here so I have put two links to public library archives that have photos of my late uncle's gas station in 1953. He survived this with injuries. For Southeastern Michigan members this was at Grand River and Novi Roads together with the now abandoned alignment of Eleven Mile Road, now a part of the Novi Town Center.

I figured that much. I'm just saying you don't have Radar O'Reily ship you one piece by piece especially that soon after the war.

  22. Thank you!
My late aunt had copies of the newspaper photos together with a bunch she took with a Brownie camera. I think one of her granddaughters got the photos, don't know if she still has them or not. Have not spoken to her for many years. One cool thing, my aunt salvaged a bunch of the bricks from the building as it was torn down, she ringed her flower gardens with them, a lot of them still had the Shell Oil colors on them.
