Unidentified, looks like it might be set up for marine use. Anybody care to venture a guess? Scan0019.jpg

Straight eight Buick built for the so called "junk class" at Indy in the '30's. They tried to lessen costs by putting restrictions on the exotic and costly engine designs by encouraging stock block powered cars to enter. The Buick has 4 carbs but they are hard to see. Scan_0121.jpg

Joe Marks mechanic with Joe's Miller Four. Looks like an Offenhauser but it was in fact a descendant of the Miller 151cu. in. marine engine I posted previously. Scan_0122.jpg

The Novi, by the time of this photo it was owned by Granatelli. Andy and his brothers added their own, more efficient Paxton blower, a Bendix (I think ?) aircraft carb and dual magnetos from an Italian sports car. Scan_0123.jpg

Not the best photo, it is a Harry Miller design for a Gulf Oil 4WD Indy car. Six cylinders layed over 45°, large blower with two carbs and an intercooler seen on the far side. Scan_0124.jpg

It’s a Kirkpatrick photo (an official Indy photographer) so that is the 1929 Indy entry of Louis Chiron, he drove a Delage. Those French men had some patience, look at all that engine turning (damascening) detail on the engine castings.

1926 Delage GP car ran INDY 500 in 1929, finished in 7th place. The car was in the Briggs Cunningham Collection for years. It is now restored to its original 1926 GP condition and in Florida in the Collier Collection. Personally I liked the INDY version with the engine turned hood. Bob
