If you have time visit the Peterson Museum, it is one of th best. The vault tour is worth the extra cost. I have been there a number of times and always enjoy it.

    Hey B,

A long time ago, a car show was on this small town, Main Street in So Cal. Over the years, it has grown and the city has been giving it support like no other. What a way to showcase the Old Town in the City of Garden Grove, CA. Besides the car show and a great Mexican restaurant, IT IS A STONE’S THROW AWAY FROM DISNEYLAND.

If you are spending the day at Disneyland, it is about 15 minutes away toward Garden Grove to the Southwest. The Main Street Friday Night Car Show has been going on for many years. The latest one is attended by a lot of people, just because it is a version of “Friday Night Lights.” (no, not the TV show) The cars start rolling in during the afternoon and set up for a 4pm starting show. Get there early if you want a seat at the Azteca Mexican restaurant that is right on the Historic Main Street.

We have eaten at that Azteca Restaurant, a long time ago and have attended the antique store circuit down the Historic Main Street. In So Cal, there are places like this historic area of a busy city. Back in the old days, there were a few car shows in this area of Garden Grove. But today, it is the showcase of an updated, historic town center on those Friday Night cruises.

If you are staying somewhat close to Disneyland, the park visit might take all day. So, the short drive a few minutes South on a Friday night may give you a respite from the craziness of that amu*****t place. Besides, the Mexican food is really good and definitely, will not be standard amu*****t park food. Not your thing? There are other restaurants locally in the area.

Throw in hot rods and cruisers and it all comes together for weary travelers. Plus, after the dinner and car show, the Friday night “dreaded” traffic back to LA will have toned down considerably for a pleasant drive back into the biggest metropolitan area on the West Coast.

Friday Night Cruise - Garden Grove
    October 12, 2018 4:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Old Town Main St , Garden Grove, CA
    Cl***ics, Hot Rods, Customs etc.

“The Garden Grove Car Show is the longest running car show in Orange County, CA. Dozens of Cl***ic Cars, Antique Cars and Custom Coupes descend on Main Street every Friday at 4pm and provide an evening of fun and spectacle for the whole family. On any given night you may see anything from a beautifully restored 1928 Buick to a '34 Split window Chevy Hot Rod.”

(I am not ***ociated with this organization or products, but just a long time So Cal hot rod /drag race guy, that has traveled all over California seeking fun things to do and enjoy over the years.)

I did the tour before the renovation and scheduled the 4:30 trip - last one of the day - and was the only one that showed up! Super cool experience to have the tour guide all to myself!!!!
