It took a great team to go 500 miles an hour but only one experienced what it was like. Congratulations Dave Spangler.

Again not the top run but real close and in the series of runs that brought on the run @RichFox posted...this one was 492mph...I think its safe to say this machine cuts very aerodynamically thru the air in a very positive way...Congratulations Team Vesco

Some great outer visuals in this clip as well and I heard what sounded like a sonic boom as it went by but I thought that happens at faster speeds but perhaps not...

  12. Lying here with a bad back, watching the video while holding my IPad up above me and it started to vibrate from the sound as the speed increased, only exaggerated the Wow factor!!
    What a buzz.
    Congratulations to the team.

    World Finals: RAINED OUT

After only one day of great racing - impound full of vehicles - two rain storms (one on Tues and one on Wed night) has flooded the salt beyond recovery. Workers are packing up equipment and leaving the salt today.

500 miles in 60 minutes, 25 miles in 3 minutes, 8.33 miles in 1 minute, .138 miles per second. Boggles the mind, what a quantum leap for the LSR world.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Has anyone traced the history of this Riley 4Port race car? Looks like it was an old quality built Ascot car, really like that grille. Bob

@The37Kid perhaps one of the surviving Vesco family as this is the senior Vesco Himself and I did post the link to their site...there may even be info there Bob....just checked here is a quoted text below

" Johnny Vesco's p***ion for the sport began in the early 1930's. His interest in Model T and A Fords led to a friendship with George Riley. The Model B Ford Four and the Riley Four-port head became John's love.

There is actually another pic at the site it looks to be in another racer but perhaps it is in fact the same engine...
