The 'scoops' over the headlights appear to be '57 Ford to me...

I don't think they are '57 Ford. If they are, they have been narrowed a bunch.

Good use of a Mercury grille, I like this better than I like it in a stock Mercury. Wouldn't have thought of it either.

Chuck Traaen's Caddy-roofed '49 Merc, built by Dee Wescott (of '32 Ford body fame).
Here is a later photo, with further work by***** Page.

Last I heard, the car was being restored. Here is an old thread:

    Quite a lineup!
Is there anyone here who doesn't recognize any of these famous customs?
If so, speak up. Someone will clue ya. ;)

Isn't that Dave Kyte's radical '55 Merc on the left, in black?

    (Pics from Rik's)

It appears that the black was the second color applied, over a base of white.
    And then...and then...
Notice how little of the black remains visible.

Officer (and part-time Barris employee) Frank Sonzogni's Fifty Merc (with '51 quarters.)

Fortunately, the car still exists! Note the Hirohata influences.

You know, there are lots of people on this site with lots of different backgrounds and different levels of experience.

It would be great if people would occasionally (or regularly) extract individual historic photos and provide a little bit of background information on the car (or truck).
