Early Joe Arrigo out of Joliet, IL. Not sure about this car but he later ran an R & B built Fiat with an injected big block on gas and then nitro before modifying the car to funny car configuration with a 70 Camaro body. He also drove Jack Ditmars' Mini Brute Opel when Jack was running his Vega panel.

Dave Powers and John Riley's 426 Mopar wedge powered T which replaced a Fiat bodied car that driver Tom Roshek crashed at Cordova. When Tom retired in 1965 Powers took over the driving chores as the team switched to a top fuel car.

I was at Cordova the night the Fiat barrel rolled about 200 feet off the starting line - they had this car at Cordova the following Saturday night. View attachment 4049792 View attachment 4049792 View attachment 4049792

The rear wheels appear to be the same but the fronts on the Mustang version were/are 15" as opposed to the 18's that were on the altered.

Lyle Webster drove and Les Hawkins tuned. Hawkins and Webster also teamed with Martinez on the Bad News Fiat and with Bartlett and McLeod on the early version of the 34 Ford 15oz coupe

What was the significance of the "...oz" designation? Heavy drinkers?

    Not "brand" but "size".

  25. Great stuff guys. I find the altered coups interesting. I also like that some of the altereds later morphed into other creations, a great example is the Super Mustang:)

That is kinda what I figured.

But if that be the case shouldn't it have been labeled

    11 fl oz
    &
    15 fl oz
    ?

Ounces and fluid ounces are not the same thing.

    OK, I'll shut up now.

I`ve read this article a few times: http://cacklefest.com/Outcast.shtml
And if i understand correct, it is set up with no suspension in the front (... in the rebuild it was decided to make the axle a no suspension unit). How will that actually work? I have never seen alteredes without front suspension... o_O

My old 180" wb slingshot didnt have suspension at all, and it was a dream to drive and worked perfect. But i guess its another thing in a short wheelbase car?
