Sean Cliver rules. But I'm finding out that lately my favorite skateboard ever is whatever one is under my feet when I'm skating the bowl just a few minutes from my work.

I'll let this go for a bit because it's pretty damn cool and I think there is a connection... somehow. Thanks for showing your collection - it's rad. But there have been a lot of music, skate, BMX threads lately and you know we have to bring it back to hot rods and customs. So get your licks in now fellas.

HOLY ****! AWESOME! Some money in that room!

While we're on the subject, anyone remember an H-street deck that had their arrow logo (the crossed arrows in the box) painted on a background canvas and in the foreground was a bucket of paint and a cat with it's tail sticking straight up and looking at the painted logo? For the life of me I cannot remember who's deck that was!! Anyone know? I'm about 99% sure it WASN'T Hensley! Help me out since we're on the subject... PLEASE! Actually, does Hensley lurk here? I think he lurks the Jockey Journal...

  6. Selling my Hawk pig on the 'bay right now. Just FYI. It's signed by Kevin Harris from '86.

Not sure about the H-Street deck, are you from vegas? Do you know Paul Smith? (X pro skater.Local Ripper) I grew up there, with him. He's into cars too. anyhow, here's my ceiling in my garage, I still try to skate as much as possible. I want that Coupe de Cab deck bad for the collection.

Nope. Don't know Smith. I've only lived here since 97 and moved here from the midwest. I moved here from Alien Workshop stomping grounds. Had friends that skated with most of those guys in the early 90's. After that I sort of fell out of the scene. When I was super young I went to school with Dan Rogers little sister though... Didn't know Dan at all though. That's the extent of my pro-encounters beyond meeting Cab at VLV a couple years ago.

i,ve rode so many boards, but still collect others that i like the art on...especially since alot of boards are way too small for my tastes in the bowl.

I used to live in Dayton for a while and would skate the Alien Workshop Visitors Center regularly, Dyrdek HeyDays, he rips! That place was a blast, had the 4'mini ramp with spine. I used to go skate the Dodge park up in Columbus a lot too and hang out with Donny Humes he ran dodge for ever back then, had the Smelly Curb Zine. Whenever I go to vegas I skate the Anthem park. I will stop there even if I am just p***ing thru, it is insane. My mom lives in summerlin still so I am there a couple times a year, I moved out in 91, lived in ohio from 92-94. Paul smith lives on the east side off tropicana and Mountain Vista he has a really good ramp in his back yard. Good times...

WOW! Small world! I lived in Springtucky for awhile and went to school at Wright State in Dayton for a year before moving out here. I didn't know any of the Alien guys, but mostly hung out with the guys from Ohio Surf and Skate. Dave, Jason Mahn, Jerry, Jason Wolf (worked for Cow Skates too) Jim Britton, Rob Russell, Froggie... know any of them?

But the question, whose time is it? If its not yours, then what do you care.

I think one of the best and most under-rated graphics on a board, was the Steve Steadham Ace Card.

And for anybody coming to York for the NSRA Nats East. There is a benefit for a local boarder who died earlier this year. They are raising money for a park in memorium. Its June 4th, and it some real hot rod support would probably be more than welcome. Food, prizes, bands, and a skate contest. http://www.myspace.com/skateparkbenefit

man, noones ringin a bell, Did cow skates have the miniramp in the back of it still? I skated there a few times too. I laid pretty low there. Didnt hang with too many skateboarders. I havent been back there since 95, I am sure a lot has changed.

I'm trying to remember the ramp at Cow. I know I never skated it, but always heard about it. Was only in Cow once when they were up on the North Ghetto (now they're in Beavercreek area). Surf had a little halv too in their back room and a few misc. fun boxes and rails. The half at surf was SUPER tight though. Hated it. I think it was like 4 or 5 foot and almost came to vert.

Yes, good times though! Right before I moved we moved a 6-foot half from an old Pizza box manufacturer's warehouse (south side springtucky) to a barn in Urbana, rebuilt it in the middle of winter (think it got down to like 15 while we were building it) and skated the hell out of it! That was in 96 and I've hardly skated since... life got complicated when I moved. My knees are pretty shot now too, so I just sort of became a supporter for some of the local kids. Worked in a couple shops and helped build some ramps for some kids. Always wanted a half when I was little, so I knew these kids would dig the help.

AWESOME! You're the ****!!!!!!!!! I've been trying to find out what model that is forever. All the searches I did came up empty. That is the one for sure! I actually still have a shirt with that logo on it too. It's beat, but it's awesome. I have it stored away in a drawer somewhere!

    Thanks man!

  21. Anytime! I found a site when I was searching for the El Gato deck that had prices of old decks from EGAY auctions...the Grosso I used to have sold for a G!!

Even off topic from this thread, I skated with Duffy last month...sicker than ever! I skate with some of the top pros from time to time and it's awesome to see a legend still ripping over the new kids.

Back to hot rods...I'm trying to figure out a way to use one of my Indy's on my car. Cab has one of his signature wheels as a shift knob on his coupe...great idea. Gotta search the threads first, but I might start a thread for ideas if it hasn't been done.

In the beginning of Search for Animal Chin, Stacy Peralta drives a fenderless '32 roadster (I think with an early Hemi in it) into a telephone pole...anyone know whose car that was?

When I first started skating I used to ride old worn out boards that my mom would get me at garage sales. First new board I got (who could forget their first new board) was a Sims Lester Kasai. After that I pretty much stuck to Powell Peralta and DogTown decks w/ Indy trucks. Just like many, I also dug my Z Roller trucks the first day i had them.... until they felt too heavy and clunky and i missed the agression of a real grind.

Through the years i've broken or worn out most of my old boards. Only thing i have left is a Skull Skates Hosoi board-- which I have no idea how i havent broken that (cause they are pretty fragile in my experience) and I keep a Powell hula girl longboard in the back of my wagon for backup transportation.

I had NO IDEA that some of these boards go for such good money. That said, skateboards are like hot rods-- they need to be skated, not only displayed.

If anybody has a Vision Gator board they want to part with, let me know. I figure that must be collectable-- with all the drama he's gone through.

........no doubt that you're right! Wes makes these things to RIDE! Each new graphic comes out as a "rider." He also does random limited runs for the collectors. It's just another art form and and a neat way to showcase his artwork.
He had Dan Barnett working on a project with him and the damn boards got "lost" by UPS. Keep your eyes peeled for them........

The og Vision Gator (with Invader trucks,Rasta Wheels, and Nose Bone) I ride now was bought, ironically enough, by my mother at a garage sale. My nephew used it to learn to skate and is now into the flippy street thing. I found the Gator in the garage, asked nicely and brought it home. When my son saw it, he goes
"You know Nana has a ton of those old boards in the garage, especially caveman boards"
I thought this was a swipe at my age "What?-I'm only 18 years older than you!
"No-she has two boards with cavemen on them. One with them running and another where the caveman is eating a dinosaur"
    Lance Mountain and Rocco anyone?:D
