does anyone know of a source for replacement wood for a 1940 Ford woody ? I need the header that runs from the "A" pillar to the rear header...the piece is about 9' long and is what the drip rail and top attach to.
Kline Family Workshop, located in PA. 717-266-8696. They made several pieces for my '46 and I highly recommend them. A lot closer to you than CA., so you can save shipping costs and pick it up.
I've contacted all of the above and they either don't have patterns for 40 or don't sell pieces like that...hoping to find someone that can help...
Phillip Marks makes pieces. He took over the Nick Alexander business. He is located in LA. Also Chris Messano builds the best wood out there. He is in LA also. Goggle for sites
There is a guy over on the Ford Barn, MrTexas who is building a '41 Woodie. He is having a guy by the name of Ron Heiden in California (Escondido I think but not sure). The photos of the work in progress show high quality wood work. Might be worth a contact if you haven't already done so to see if he has or can make what you need.
I've google all of them but cant find any info on any of them...does anyone have contact info on any of them ???
Sounds like nothing is panning out for you with the folks we've suggested. Try this. Contact the National Woodie Club, and get a current copy of their newsletter; "The Woodie Times". They have/had a classified section in the back, with advertisers and advice.
Let me give you some of the other advertisers listed in the Woodie Times. Treehouse Woods, 407-783-6781, Wood By Wiskers, 715-247-2513 and New Old Wood, 920-825-7497. Other than what has already been posted that's it for the advertisers in the Times.
thanks for the reply..I've already contacted all of those shops and they either don't have patterns or want car in there shop to install pieces they sell. A lot of the vendors that i've contacted specialize in certain years or models..the search goes on....
Hershey in justa few days. You might try some networking there. There have always been some woodworking guys there,I just haven't paid too much attention to who they are. Maybe you should turn it around, find a pattern then look for someone to fab it. Do you have the opposite side? Surely someone good with CAD systems could make a mirror pattern for you.
I just had the same pieces replaced on my 47 Ford wagon at the Wooden Carr, Long Beach. They want your car because every car is different...trust me that is not just a bolt on....I found Doug to be very helpful and full of knowledge. Sent from my SM-G950U using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
