We Southerners use both regularly for all manner of repairs. No self respecting Good 'Ol Boy would be caught without WD-40 and duct tape in his pickup.

 

Yep, can pert near fix anything with duct tape and WD-40 is good chigger repellent.

 

The fellows up North know a thing or two about duct tape you betcha!

 

I had a mishap when installing the windshield on my car, the lower trim popped out of the gasket groove and it had to come out... would have been wise to tape up the cowl before proceeding. The black butyl sealer was all over it and the gl***. WD40 to the rescue, I was impressed at how well it cleaned it up.

 

Yeah but they don't have to deal with chiggers. There was some folks that moved down from New York a few years ago and their kids were rolling around playing in the pasture. a day later they thought they had chicken pox, but it was chiggers bites.
