I like the look of the wide 5 wheels and hubs. Do you need the axle seals that go inside the axle tubes (9 inch ford) for a street driven car? I think the hollow aluminum hubs would hold about a pint of grease each?? I think the seals go in near the pumpkin end of the axle tube?? Some help needed here .....thanks..
maybe trying to answer my own question....the grand national and the wide 5 are both floater rear ends. I am quite sure the w/5 bearings are hand greased like a common spindle, and the 90 wt. is confined to the differential housing by sealing between the axle and the axle tube. can't say about the grand national?? Any thoughts on this???
Racing wide five hubs use large diameter course thread wheel studs, so suitable street wheels are not really available. I've never found a stepped down stud or undrilled hubs to make this work, but perhaps they are out there. If so, I would love to know. And yes, as you've noted the racing hubs are floaters front and back.
