I wonder if that made the car technically illegal in the UK? Probably not: there are crowns other than royal. If the arms had had a helm it might have been different: anyone can have a helm, as long as it is shown in at least part-profile, but only royalty is allowed a helm facing the viewer directly.

A few other things. As HRP mentioned, a chevron usually doesn't reach to the top of the escutcheon and therefore can't divide the field above it. The arrangement does not suggest a chevron as much as an impalement of a gules, bend sinister sable and an azure, bend dexter sable. The argent (silver, or chrome) strips dividing the sable (black) from the rest then make sense, but the argent below doesn't, as heraldic tinctures don't distinguish between silver and white. Conventionally you'd always have colours separated by metals, except in cases of marshalling e.g. impalement or quartering.

  5. A Frat zog is a fractured deltoid (triangular shape) composed of three arrowhead shapes forming a three-pointed star.

As the story goes the designer of the Logo just made up the word. HRP

One of the best I've seen was on a 32 Ford at the NSRA Nats that said "Camel Toe Racing".

  10. That would have been one of the numerous '32 Fords owned by George Poteet.

If you have never visited his website your in for a treat. HRP

Danny, you've got that right about George having some neat stuff. I've seen a couple of his 32's. A friend of mine bought a 61 Pontiac Ventura Bubbletop for 12K. Just a stocker that needed paint but otherwise a nice car. My friend painted it and thought he was doing great when he sold the Ventura for 29K. The guy then turned around and sold the Ventura to George for 72K. Nice profit for doing nothing.
That Camel Toe Racing really did look good on that 32 grill shell.

BTW, you ought to come to Louisville for the Nats next week.

That Fratzog seems to indicate the three divisions of Chrysler. I wonder what it would've looked like if DeSoto was still around.

I read Ford brought back the blue oval in 1963 as a small emblem on the inside door. I know that my 63 uni had one, never paid attention to the cars.

I'm thinking that I read that in a book on Henry Ford 50 something years ago when I was reading books on a lot of the automotive pioneers. I think I read every car related book the local library had that summer.

That’s an incomplete quote.....the full sentence says “to avoid getting your ass handed to you, do not race against a Dodge unless you are driving another Dodge”......

I love history like this. We know, by the image above, that somebody circled a mistake, and we know by the text that they knew it was a mistake as far back as 1929. What we still don't know is, who was the one to draw the circle?
    (snicker, snicker)

Yeah, Yeah.....Forked Over, Rebuilt Dodge; Flip Over, Read Directions; Found On Road Dead; First On Race Day; etc., etc.
Mostly Old Parts And Rust; Move Over, Plymouth Approaching Rapidly; etc., etc.
