I bought my first 32 last April. A true barn find Tudor. It sat untouched in this barn since 1968. It also has these “King of the Road” lights on the rear. First ones I had seen.
Went on a tin hunt and dragged some junk home. Some cuts and small items I can use on projects the rest I'll move on, good to save some old tin from the elements. Also purchased a N.O.S stewart warner tach and some more suitable front runners 5.50 16" firestones. I also hung some shed art up I purchased a while ago!
It amazes me that you can just walk out in the bush and find these parts. Your a lucky man. Nice patch by the way.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to find all my rusty tin, I had to buy some, but still find a good amount when I get the chance to go on a hunt.
I recently discovered a half filled in pit with a few panels and parts in there. Managed to drag this old windmill head out which is alloy with a brass centre. Polished it up a little as a shed hanger, still have to mount it properly. Patent happens to be 1932 as well! Early license plate is kinda cool! I think I found crocodile dundees knife on the way out to my tin hunt... I've just been welding in small patches so nothong too exciting on the roadster progress!
Finished extending the 33-34 wishbone today and layed some paint down on it. I have a little bit of doubt in my mind over my gauge choice at the moment. I think I'll mock it up as best I can before I do anything drastic... today my thought process was hell just throw some new SW gauges in and be done with it...
That early SA rego plate could be worth a decent amount. You know what the old VIC plates fetch at auction. I would hang that plate around my neck at Bendigo Swapmeet with a small for sale taped on. You still have 3 weeks to do some research.
A little disappointed today. Stripped down my gear boxes to work out my final gearbox arrangement for the roadster. I have a couple of doner side load boxes and a bunch of top load casings, some with gear sets. So out of what I have, I've found my later synchro boxes to have bad countershaft cluster gears and pretty average reverse idler gears. I have enough parts to build an earlier (1936-39) box.... found a 78 case amongst half a dozen 48 cases, and a double detent shifter! Progress !
I recon id have a cluster , however if you have all the bits to put a 32 /35 box together id go that way , none of these gearboxs have syncro on low gear and the early ones have a straight cut low gear the wine sounds cool , I have one in my 35 tub with a 283
also you have a double detent shifter but does it have the correct 2 / 3 shifter fork they are a bit hard to find
The earlier box I have parts for still has the helical gears, it's a 1936-39 and a 48 casing. I'll still build it and use it, but was hoping my later parts would be nicer.
Tin hunt yesterday was pretty fun, came across a couple of old dumps on public land. Signs for the public walking trail led me to a bunch of rusty goodness.
nice haul... tin hunting is slowing down around here, deer hunting season keeps me outa the woods... someone gets killed every year !
