I need to pull the starter out of my 1950 216 Chevy deluxe. I've located the two bolts and I'm having trouble getting a wrench into the top bolt location. Very small opening to the bolt. Anyone have any tips? Thanks
I got the starter out and replaced the starter drive, got it back in. A socket won't fit in there, there's an offset, the nut is kinda behind the starter body. Anyhow, I grinded down the sides of an 11/16 wrench so it would fit and turn and 30 min later, success! She starts great now. Thanks for the nudge.
Back when changing those in a shop was a daily occurrence "starter wrenches" were pretty common. I'd go with what Devin1950 Suggested and modify a wrench to do the job and then stash it in the box so you have it if you need it again.
