I like it Eric! Glad to see that you are doing something constructive with the down time. A man after my own heart! I can't wait to see it done.
Flippin' SWEET.... I like the merc caps on the front- are those 40 deluxe caps on the rear? I need 2.........
Wish I had a picture of the '34 my friend built. Sat just like your '32, bed and top look to have been altered about the same as well. His was satin black with a glossy black cab and apple green 16" Kelseys with truck tires on the back and space saver tires up front. It blistered the primer on the front fenders where the tires would rub! Sold it to a guy up in your neck of the woods, I think (ever seen it?). It was featured in Street Rodder after the new owner finished the body work and added radials and polished Americans, looked good, looked better with the wires! Damn, it was cool, yours will be awesome too! Keep us posted, PLEASE
Looking really nice! Color??? How about Candy blue with white rolls & pleats for the running boards and interior. Late 50's style baby! Josh
The front fenders are kinda flopped over in the pictures. They won't hang down over that much. The tires and wheels are just to roll around on(only small front ones I had) The rear tires have about 3.5" clearence on the inside now. Will adjust ride height as needed,it has 8" shackles on the back now(with panhard bar off a 48 Ford) Will end up with 7.50x16 rears and 4.50/4.75x16 fronts on 40 wheels. I got the smoothy running boards at a swap meet, thinking they need to be covered in vinyl.. Either black lacquer,or maybe 40 Ford maroon....don't know yet.
Looks good--just torch the handles off the vise grips and you're done... "I got the smoothy running boards at a swap meet, thinking they need to be covered in vinyl.." I'm thinking about smooth for mine, with chrome strips...saw a roadster done like that in a circa '52 book, kinda like some T series MG's.
rotate the rear fenders forward to the flow line of the back side of the rear fender is the same as the back side of the front fender. i think it will help make it flow even better. my .02 looks great.
Gonna "robert" the back of the fenders to better match the rolled pan. I like the idea if chrome strips, might steal that one from you Bruce.
That looks great! I really dig trucks with fenders when they sit right....your's is gonna be perfect!
"might steal that one from you Bruce." Just gonna have another cup of coffee while you do my development work... My idea was either in the HRM "Hot rods" book circa '52 or a very early "Best Hotrods" type thing from Fawcett...neat thing was that the boards were on a 125 MPH full fendered '32 roadster tow car, whose towed fenderless '29 highboy went 140ish!
Eric, glad you got the rear fenders finally. Definitely build it with fenders! It should be ready for the Ford picnic in two weeks, right?!
Just wanted to point out that swoop of the front fender towards the rear, IMHO, is better when using 28/29 front fenders. But I can't argue what you have set-up here. I do like like the look of fenders on your truck. Awesome! Keep the pics coming Ken
Mocked up Krank Style, eh ?? I stole that one from Doug... Looks great...fenders = good. Are you ready for the Ford picnic?
Mocked up Krank style? Nah,I call it La Grande Mock up. Picnic..I'm getting hungry. Coupehead, yes.I was very excitied to get the fenders. Had to get them on asap. Doing a little upholstery work tonight.....
looks great Vaphead! I like the fenders too. I see you have a bobbed bed just like mine. I finally picked up the remainder of the stuff i needed to fire it this week. Heres a sneak peak before i give a pictorial.
