howdy all a buddy and me want and got a 34 or 35 chevy truck the other day and we need to know what year it is so we can start hunting parts for it heres the # we found on the id plate on the firewall 21PA10 then in smaller letters 1284 from what i can find the 21 = made in janesville wi PA = ? 10 = month it was made in 1284 = is the # as it came off the line am i rite so far ? and whats the PA mean ?
Going by the hood louvers it's a 35. Anytime you're not sure about the year...do a Google search in the images. You can compare the differences in the years.
I use Carnut.com. They have the year breaks listed and multiple images. Their stuff is usually right on.
I know more about vin #s than I know about you, http://www.americanclassic.com/index.asp will be able to help restore it. If you want a rod, then paint codes and oem brakes shouldn't be a concern. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=106483 cody has some spare parts you might swap
I have a 34 and 35 and they both have the same 4 louvers on the hood...I sure wish my fenders looked as good as those, what are your plans with it, if you are going to run fenderless or need some parts theat you don't have let me know, I might need some of them....joe
According to my '29-'49 Chevy parts manual, "PA" is a 1934, 131" wheelbase, 1-1/2T utility truck with single rear axle wheels.
thank you very much Tagman , and if you dont mind me askin where did ya find out all that ? ok i just read it again and i missed what ya said lol sorry where can we find a manual like the one ya found the vin #s in ? 34rustrod , his plans are to street rod it not 100% sure how and what all will be changed 53sled , me and my buddy live in east tn , and he is a bodyman/painter ,he has been into old car/trucks for about 40 or so years , but is not into computers me i am a active member over at http://67-72chevytrucks.com/ and my buddy ask me to help him find out what the those #s meant and what the truck was exactly, anyway i was told to came here by a member at the truck board so here i am lol and yes i will pm cody and see what all we can do oh yea my buddy also has a 36 chevy truck ,but i dont have pics of it but will get sum as soon as we dig it back out of the woods lol
check out stovebolt.com its got all the vin info you need on chevs i beleive pa is for 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton
Yeah, the Chevy parts book info about "PA" being a 1-1/2T is probably wrong..... tnblazerk5, I don't think they reprint the parts manuals. Look around the antiquer's swap meets or on Ebay - there's always some available, around $25-$40, usually.
