In the past year I have seen a couple 52-54 Fords on the local craigslist for sale after attempts to do a top chop on them and they gave up on the project. Seeing this on the main board and a discussion on facebook on a guys chop of his '53 got me to start this thread. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...ing-cl***-in-phoenix-az-1-11-1-13-19.1124935/
This one works although it's a bit much for my taste. Usually they just look flattened to me. I'd much rather pancake the roof a tad and get rid of the "extra" metal above the rear window, making the roof follow the contour of the rear side windows like the coupes. The rear of the roof was obviously designed by a tall guy who wore a fedora...
Maybe it's the lens or maybe it's the camera angle but... naaah. The side windows don't look right at all. Not a bit.
I can appreciate the work that goes into a chop. These examples are beautiful and clean. But I’m 6’8” and claustrophobic so, not my preference.
"But I’m 6’8” and claustrophobic".............not a good combo, lol. Reminds me of my first wife's family. They were all tall. My late father in law, ***hole that he was, use to tease me about being short. I usually replied, that was ok, I could get into spaces he couldn't, and I could always get a stepladder if needed.
The top is OK, I prefer to have the b pillar straight and not leaned forward. This ride has the back suspension too low. I prefer nose down just a bit. As a final note: I would drive it ! ! !
Not a fan of these cars (52-54 fords) chopped. They don't have the right proportions. They already look awesome from the factory, just a good low stance is all it needs to set it off. But everyone wants to be a part of the "chop it" crowd, less is more sometimes.
Looks like another one they gave up on https://phoenix.craigslist.org/nph/cto/d/1952-ford-customline/6748567359.html
