Well here is my 55 Olds I have been slowly tinkering with for the past year or so. Had her on the road for about a month, but still working the bugs out. Except for the motor, everything under the car is new. It has fresh brakes, all new suspension(stock/bags in the front, four link/bags in the rear), rebuilt rearend, new drive shaft, a fresh 700r4(thanks to an adapter from Benstens), all backing the factory 324. The only mechanical issues I am having are the factory gears in the rear are alittle high for the 700, so it is sluggish taking off(anyone know if I can get a higher gear set for the stock rear),but will click along a 80mph all day. Also I think a have a valve seal leaking because she just started smoking real bad the other day, but it stops after it has been running for about 5-10 mins. I am going to do a compression check on it, just to be sure its not a ring. Then I will pull the heads and have them redone. Anyway, I had her parked in the back yard today so I thought I would snaps some pics of her.
Very nice... IMO all these cars need is just what what you've done! A low stance makes the Olds look great!
Contact Drive train specialists,,, they are the biggest dealer for rear end parts,,, ask for Clauade Plante, tell him Arnold , the Late Model racer from Flat rock speedway sent you,,,, http://www.drivetrainspecialists.com/index.html
Lets see, it is an 88, I did have a problem with the flywheel being to close to the starter housing, but called Bob and he changed the ring gear spacing and over nighted me a correct one(cool dude), and the whole thing will be painted the original green thats on it, but with seafoam green seeweed flames all over it. I always wanted to clone Al Lazarus's 55 Chevy that Watson painted, so I am going to build it like " what if Al would have bought an Olds back in 55 instead of a Chevy". Thanks for the kind words fellas.
NICE machine... Keep us posted how the adapter and 700R4 are working out. Definatly one of a kind... my type of cruiser.
Man that thing is sweet... I wish I had the time and money to get mine to sit that low. I'm curious about the 4 link rear, and construction shots and did you have to enlarge the driveshaft tunnel ? Rick
Yeah! Your Oldsmabubble is VERY close to the Poncho's...........so how about some pics of the drivetrain swap and some of the suspension mods?? I put the original drivetrain back into mine, but I HAVE to/NEED to change my suspension up before mine takes a crap on me. Other then that...........this is my jealous face. Lucky stiff.
