55 years, very sad verde742, I know only too well the feelings you are experiencing, it can hurt like hell. My heart felt condolences to you and everyone else who knew and loved the guy. I did not, but I'm loosing my buds also and just returned from my cousins military funeral at noon today.

Condolences to the Eby family, it's always sad to read these things.
Bob, there are quite a number of Ebys' in the Portland area that are hot rodders, do you know if Dallas was connected to them?

I have had an office in Longview, WA for the last couple of decades and it is my loss that I never met him. He sounds like a great man! I am sorry for everyone's loss. Longview is a great car community full of such men and women.

I just heard that Dallas had p***ed. Very sad. Lots of memories of rod runs with him including the Street Rod Nationals in St. Paul, MN.

I found this pic of Dallas. As I recall - It was in '91 and we had been at the NSRA Nationals in St. Paul, MN. Dallas left ahead of us in his '28 Roadster Pickup with a 427. When we pulled into Murdo, SD the first night, there was Dallas with the front of his car tore down, sitting on blocks in a motel parking lot. The bolts holding his front wheel adapters on were failing, and the nearest replacements were in a nearby city. He got the bolts the next day and got back on the road. Dallas is on the left, and Lloyd Cope is to his right with his back to the camera. fullsizeoutput_751.jpeg
