I almost bought one of those coupes in high school. At the time I thought it was too big for a hot rod but now I have changed my mind. Opinion....put a hemi in it...

Packards are beautiful cars and can make an elegant custom. No issues putting a big powerplant under the hood too. My only suggestion is that any outside changes should reflect a high end custom car or luxury theme, a shotgun scoop and wheel tubs would look stupid. I don't dislike Keystones but I don't feel them on that particular body.

When the usual suspects tell you to build this as a g***er, DO NOT take that advice. Seriously, this can be a real nice car. Packards are elegant.

I can't help but wonder how a '36 Ford grille would look on there...:D

How about more pictures and describe what you have to work with. Then maybe a hint as to your vision for it. Like others have said, a Packard calls for a more elegant approach to hot rodding.

"The usual suspects'' - That's funny!
These cars have some sweet lines. Custom gets my vote. Keystones, nah..

I have to agree with some of the other posts. This car would make an awesome Custom. Post some good pictures on the Photoshop thread here on the HAMB. Very helpful to get some nice ideas for body mods, color and wheel choices.

A hemi engine is so.........p***é/everybody does that!!!
Listen to your "inner'you" and go with a "shotgun" 429 or a Jon K***e killer engine!
A blower should be mandatory......Think KS Pittman style (HEY!!!?! what ever happened to him?)
Gonna need something BIG for that size car, fer sure
Since when is tubbed wheels a "bad thang"?!!

The whole reason for Hot Rods and Customs in the first place was to make a beat up Jalopy like a Ford, Chevy, Mopar, ect ect.... look and perform like a Packard, Cord or Duesenburg.
Packard lost it's way in the 40s but in the 30's they were tops.
    I mean...look at it!

Here's a 36 3W Ford similar in colour for some inspiration as well. Sombrero caps look cl***y compared to Keystones

  27. Hay, a 401 A.M.C. is nothing to turn your nose up at. We did this with one for years
tapatalk_1450747055543.jpeg and it had Street manors,, well sorta street manors. They are actually considered a small block believe it or not.

It needs to be a custom. Think "big 36 Ford."
