"..........muddy track, sunny skies, tons of people and cars, good music & food, crashed hot rods and blown engines. That's about it!

That is from a post made by my good friend Ian.

Here is the story as sad as it is.

    It was me!!!!!!!!!!!

I ran the right front of my chevy vert into an immovable object. Enough said about that. I ain't gonna embar*** myself by giving out the gory details. Suffice it to say that I wasn't paying attention and hit something. Lesson learned.

The car was damaged but not real seriously. Broken Lucas 7" head light lense. I REALLY NEED A REPLACEMENT LENSE, ANYBODY GOT ONE TO SPARE?
The right front fender was pushed back about an inch and of course caused some damage to the door. The frenched headlight rim got smucked and the grill frame and the center bar are bent. One of the grille teeth has a big dent in it and another one will have to be replaced.

The good news is that last night we got the fender pulled forward and have fixed the door and hood gap back to where they belong. Got the grille and frame of the grillle straghtned out as good as they are going to get for the summer. Tomorrow we start to fix the frenched headlight and the bow in the fender flare. Car is going to be in a memorial day parade on Monday.

I have grille parts coming from Flat Top Bob that will need rechroming but I need help from you guys please.

1 Lucas 7" clear gl*** lense with the chrome *** in it.

2 52 Chevy grille teeth both of them must be numbered 0 R

Here are a few pictures, first of the damage before any repairs and then the grille as it will look for the rest of the year.

I know that many of us have smashed up cars before but those of you that have done it to your own special ride know how it feels. It don't feel good especially when it is YOUR OWN fault.

To all of you who asked that is my story and I'm sticking to it.

Bob-- sorry you smashed up your car... Don't know if this will help, but about 3 or 4 years ago, I smacked a deer with my 52... I got most of my grille replacement parts from **** Moffit Chevy Parts (937/325-7861) in Ohio. I feel like they treated me well. Maybe they can come up with some teeths for you.

BTW, enjoyed seeing your car @ the Roundup!

Looks like it pulled out pretty easy. Are you gonig to be able to blend it in or
do you have to repaint the door edges and complete fender?

Now what about the damage to the other car??

Yep, certainly glad neither you nor Larry were hurt in the mishap. I never did see Larry's car. Did you take photos of that by any chance?? Yeah, I slow down and look at crashes on the side of the highway too.:D

Yowch! Glad nobody got hurt. Looks like you've got it pulled out to where it's a lot less noticeable.

Even after the crash, your car looks better than mine!

Sorry to hear your baby got a boo-boo. Best wishes for a speedy recovery (pun intended!).

And, change your story. I still tell how some guy rearended my Jetta with his mailbox. Half of the people never figure it out!

  24. ****...!

Sorry as I'd be if it was my own car, Bob. Sure am glad it's all fixable.

However, I became a much better race car driver after my car had a few dents in it. Maybe, you'll start winnin' races.
