Hot Rods Larry Ericson (Skinny)

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Patty- Larry Ericson, Dec 31, 2017.

  1. My dad, Larry Ericson p***ed Nov 15, 2016. It’s good to read stories about his racing days in the 60s and 70s. I was to young to remember his first car, but I know the Chevelle was a big deal and his last car was a black funny car with Ericson in metallic silver. I remember hanging out at the shop on Pattie and the shop on Harry. If you knew my dad would you please upload any pictures you may have, and feel free to share any stories. He is so missed. I read 1 post about a race in Az and he was told by the mob to take Joe Bananas off the car. Interesting stories I never heard.

Condolences to you and your family on your loss of your father...Memorials are a fact of life here and we do remember in respect to those that have left us.

Welcome to the Hamb @Patty- Larry Ericson. While I am not involved or knowledgeable in your late fathers type of racing many here are and I hope you can connect with and find inspiration in that and the many other facets of vintage Hotrod /Customs and all vintage in between that are represented here.

    Regards,
    Stogy

What area in the country was this in? Maybe that will help you in your search. Good luck!

There was a Larry Erickson from Wichita some (many) years ago. I wonder if the Stray Kat crowd in Dewey would know?

  11. I’m sure it’s the same Ericson (no K in name). But not sure if the stray cats would know him.

Try a PM to "twotallokie" and/or "straykatkustoms" minus the quotation marks, of course.

All you can do is ask.

Patty, didn't know your dad personally, but my dad did. He raced Ted DeTar quite a bit in the beginning, have some on tape of the Chevelle when it was Joe Banana's and then after he renamed it. And of course the crash here in Wichita in 1966. Find me on facebook...

I didn't know him but knew the name from reading race results in that time period. He was racing around the time I had the big idea that I was going to be a serous drag racer when I got out of school.

Patty I knew your Dad and Larry Willard, I took your uncle Donnie c/ds and pictures with extras copies at his shop. The c/d shows your dad racing in Texas.

Larry Willard was my uncle. I used to hang out at the station where they worked on the Chevelle. I used to pull the car back to the pits after a race.
