Lookin' into putting front brakes off a '78 F-100 on a '64 F-100. The price is right on 'em, but I figured I'd ask before I go check them out. Also, the guy won't let me strip 'em off to try them before he's got $$$ in hand. Does anyone have any idea if they'll work together?? Thanks in advance.

As a somewhat Educated guess ... I would say NO ...

and a 64 is a straight axle and the 78 would be a Twin I Beam ... with discs ... so I doubt that the spindles would interchange either ...

I have a set of 85 spindels stripped down if you want measurements. They were off a twin I-beam.

Thanks bobber, but that won't be necessary. I've heard it from two sources now about the solid straight axle difference from the twin I-beam. I just needed a little reassurance. Much thanks guys!!

There is one time this swap might work out. If you happen to have a straight axle that the kingpin holes are dutched, then it might be feasible to bore the axle out to receive the bigger pins from the twin I beam. You would also have to put spacers in to make up about a quarter inch in the vertical plane. Not something I would recommend, but sometimes desperate times call for desperate means. Beside the Ford disk brakes of that era are butt ugly.........
